Testing advice needed…..

Low insulation on lighting circuit.

Split the circuit in between lights and removed the feed to the last light as that appeared to be the problem.

Tested the removed leg and insulation clear.

The feed up to the the last leg. Last leg removed. Insulation clear.

Put them back together and low insulation comes back.

Circuit is run in singles in conduit that apppears to have water damage.

Any ideas?

Hi Guys, looking for some advice/reassurance. I have a customer (domestic) with a TT earthing system that has a main CU and a sub CU that needs upgrading with AFDDs for all circuits. The Main CU is next to the intake equipment so straight forward. The sub CU is upstairs with 12 lighting circuits. This sub CU is supplied by a 16 T&E cable about 10 meters in length back to the main intake equipment protected by a 60amp fuse. Because the AFDDs are also RCBOs (30mA) protecting each final circuit, I want to further protect the 16T&E sub CU supply cable with a 100mA time delayed RCD to avoid unwanted tripping (descrimination). The 16T&E supply cable routing to the sub CU is either surface (clipped) or under floorboards (no insulation) more then 50mm in depth from the top or bottom of the joist. Does this sound all ok? I just want to check that I don’t need to provide additional (30mA) protection to the sub CU supply cable which would then mess up my plans to using AFDDs on the final circuits. Sorry for war and piece 🥴

If I Was One Of The 11,000 Laid Off By Meta Today, Here's What I'd Do ASAP...
Hi, welcome to my weekly newsletter on LinkedIn. If you aren't already a subscriber, I hope you'll consider hitting the join button. As a former recruiting executive, I hopped to the other side 20 years ago to become an advocate for the worker. I write about topics to help people secure good jobs and build better careers. Thanks for reading!

Mark Zuckerberg just laid off 11,000 Meta (formally Facebook) employees this morning.
Having helped thousands of layoff victims over the last 20 years, I know what those folks are feeling.

It's unsettling and best, and massively scary at worst.

I'm not one of those coaches that's going to immediately say, "let's look for the silver lining." Or, "let's turn this into an opportunity." When people get laid off, in my experience, the right thing to say is: "That stinks." Because it does.

But, I do often point out in that discussion that at least they know it wasn't their fault.
One of the first things I like to remind layoff victims is when asked, "Why did you leave your last job?" in future job interviews, at least they won't have to say they got fired for performance - something that is much more nerve-wracking and harder to explain.

In the case of layoff victims, the answer is simple:

"Unfortunately, my last employer needed to make some cuts and I was one of (insert number) employees impacted. That's why I'm actively looking for my next opportunity."
It's an objective, clear answer that allows you to refocus the recruiter or hiring manager asking the question back to a discussion around your skills and fit for the role.

And, while I want them to take a day or two to breath and process what's happened, my next piece of advice is always the same: start looking for a job immediately. Here's why...

You're a commodity. And the market just got flooded.
If you know about the law of supply and demand, then you know when this many people get laid off at the same time, the market has just got flooded with talent. All these people are often equally eligible for the coveted jobs i.e. the jobs that would be similar (or, perhaps even better) than the one you just lost.

And given that Twitter, and so many other tech companies are laying off - with expectations these layoffs will continue through Q1 of 2023, the market is going to continue to flood with talent.

Which means, the sooner you start planning a strategic job search to target the right employers and network with their employees so you can stand out and get hired, the better.

Honestly, getting laid off is one of the most powerful career experiences.
When my clients use it as an opportunity to understand how proactive job search really works, they become empowered and more resilient in their careers. I can't count how many times a client has said, "J.T., I never dreamed I'd say this when it happened, but getting laid off was one of the BEST things to happen to me."

This is your chance to change things up, build new relationships, learn new skills, and explore new possibilities. While you didn't choose to enter into this situation, you can choose to use it to your advantage.

Those that dive in immediately to the learning process are the ones that land the best opportunities. Whereas, those that choose to take extended time off (1-2 months) often find their anxiety and depression increases, making the job search process feel even more stressful and scary.

My advice - give yourself a couple of days to feel your emotions. And then, focus forward and get curious about what your future can hold now that you have the ability to research and find a new employer/opportunity.

PS - I've been writing a lot lately to help those getting impacted by the economic downturn. Here are a few other articles you might find helpful:

How climbing the career ladder actually makes it HARDER to get a job.
The 3 things I recommend everyone do RIGHT NOW to keep your career safe in the current economic downturn.
I hope the above helps.

PSS - Big hugs to anyone who has been laid off lately. Please know myself and the team at Work It Daily support you and are here if you need us!
