Have you cleared the old uniform as yet? Our textile banks are waiting for your bags.

It's that time of year once again- we are close to the end of the School term and many of you will be sorting out the old school uniform.
So why don't you pop it into a bag and get along to your nearest Ark Cancer Charity clothing bank and donate the old uniform.
Donating not only raises funds for the Charity but helps the environment.

Fundraising comes in many ways. Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust library have supported the Ark for many years by selling some of their fiction books. Of which we will always be grateful for. They were back at it today in the Ark Centre.
Do you have any ideas for raising funds for the Ark? We would love to hear your ideas.

We are delighted to share that our talented acupuncturist, Jolene Stapleton, was recently invited to speak at the Women's Institute in Whitchurch. Jolene provided a comprehensive list of topics she could discuss, and the WI was so interested that they requested she cover several of them!

During her talk, Jolene addressed a variety of subjects, including lower back pain, shoulder issues, foot and ankle pain, and the benefits of acupuncture. She shared insights into common complaints, explained how professionals can assist, and demystified acupuncture by detailing what it is and how it works. Additionally, Jolene offered practical advice on what attendees could do to help themselves.

The event was well-attended, with around 40 participants, and we received wonderful feedback about how informative and helpful they found the session. We are proud of Jolene for her engaging and enlightening presentation, which contributed to a successful evening.

The event also raised £70 for the Ark Cancer Charity.

If your group would be interested in receiving a talk from one of our fantastic therapists please do get in touch with us at [email protected]

Tony and Linda's fundraiser for Ark Cancer Charity
Melissa Bryers Story-
On October 25th 2023 I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer which has already spread to my bones, I am now incurable but 100% treatable.

The care I have received by the NHS has been amazing and that's all helped by having my radiotherapy and cancer treatment in Basingstoke. Just being able to stay near home for the endless appointments has made a huge difference to me and my family.

These appointments will now be a part of my life but seeing familiar faces brings comfort and just makes that little bit of difference on those tough days.

This is only possible as The Ark have created the new radiotherapy unit and are now refurbishing the cancer unit into a modern facility.

Linda & Tony are my super heroes, they have volunteered to do this epic bike ride to raise monies on behalf of myself. They will be taking 6 days to cycle the 500 miles starting from Basingstoke cycling to Port Isaac and back again. We can only hope they have beautiful weather, the hills are kind to them and the beer will be cold.

Please donate to this amazing charity so that all of our friends & family members that need this care have access.

What a wonderful team. The Arkriders have set the standard for community support for the Ark Cancer Charity were so supportive of the challenges we faced getting the services up and running. As a group you should be so proud as this service is now fulfilling the initial aim of helping patients through their cancer journey. The feedback from patients and the clinical staff has been so overwhelming that we have recently had funding to expand the service further to enable us to see even more patients. In addition the Rainbow Unit has moved to its temporary home in the Pavilion while the Ark Cancer Charity and Greenham Trust co-fund the renovation and provide a wonderful environment for those going through their chemotherapy treatment and the amazing staff who work there. Thank you again Ark Riders Arkriders

We have held another successful themed coffee morning today 21st May, the subject of which was 'Local Community Radio'

Jeff Powell from the local radio station gave us a very informative talk which was enjoyed by an enthusiastic audience. As usual our team of volunteers provided a grand choice of cakes and beverages. Steve also inaugurated the game of Play your cards right which was also well supported and won by Claire from the bar team, together with our usual raffle.

Our total for the ARK charity was in excess of £200 for which I must thank everyone who attended and helped out in any way 👏👏👏

With Regards...

David Simmonds
