Happy stays at Sungate 💙💙

We recently had young Riley come to stay at Sungate with his family. This was Riley’s first ever holiday, and the family were understandably nervous.

Really happy to say, Riley loved his holiday! He felt so settled and regulated at Sungate that the family were able to venture out into Bath, and they used our Sungate app to explore and visit new places. Riley enjoyed himself so much that his mum told us he was sad to leave Sungate at the end of the holiday!

Oooh, how exciting, our first Christmas post of the year!🎄

We’re getting the hot chocolates and mittens ready ☕️🧤

Autism friendly relaxed session tickets are now on sale for Enchanted Christmas at Westonbirt Arboretum (a 40 minute drive from Sungate).

Enchanted Christmas is a special outdoor event with festive food, hot drinks and sweets stalls, followed by an evening arboretum walk filled with Christmas music, illuminated pathways, talking trees, LED tunnels, cheeky elves, and Father Christmas🎅

Wrap up warm, wander through the woodland with the family, and soak up the Christmas spirit!

Relaxed sessions turn down bright lights and loud noises, and entry numbers of people are limited. These special sessions are available on the 30 November, 7 and 12 December 💙

Hello, we are Tamsin and David and we would like to welcome you to Sungate, our truly autism friendly holiday home in the beautiful city of Bath.

Sungate has been lovingly adapted to meet the needs of autistic children, young people and adults, their families and carers.

Sungate has a range of features and adaptations we couldn’t find anywhere else when we went on holiday with our autistic son in the UK. The accommodation was too cluttered, too noisy or overwhelming for him. Other holiday homes just didn’t cater for our son’s autism, his ADHD, his sensory difficulties. This meant that by the time we got home, we all needed another holiday!!

We decided to speak to other families, autistic children and adults, about their experiences and realised that many others felt the same way we did. They wanted an autism friendly place to stay, but just could not find anything suitable. They wanted holidays in beautiful locations too, but just could not find anywhere to meet their needs. We knew something had to change…and so Sungate was born!

We love Bath and want our guests to love it too! Whether it’s a short walk to nearby Bath city farm, or a visit to the Roman Baths, winner of an autism friendly award, we have tried to include places you can visit to enjoy an autism friendly holiday in the World Heritage city.

We also welcome non-autistic families and think you would also enjoy staying at Sungate too!

Stormy Bath City Farm! 🐖🐑

Went for a walk with the dog to Bath City Farm today, in between the rain showers! ☔️

The farm is just a 5 minute walk from Sungate, it’s free (donations welcome), has a children’s play area, an autism friendly cafe (with no music! 🎧) lovely views, and there are lots of farm animals to see, including hens, pigs, rabbits, pigs and llamas! 🦙

I had the dog with me today so we decided not to visit the animals, even though I know he likes to say hello! The farm was looking beautiful, with stunning views and blooms of flowers everywhere. Well worth a visit during your stay, come rain or shine 🌺💙
