Vegan Bath
All things vegan in Bath & beyond.
š Eat a Pitta, Westgate Street, Bath
Is there a prettier lunch bowl? At home waiting for baby to arrive, feeling quite exhausted today.. needed something quick, tasty, light but full of goodies.. and then I remembered has opened a store in Bath!
I got the classic falafel bowl, and it did not disappoint! In general, I HATE falafel.. its dry, its boring, and I roll my eyes anytime I see it on a menu, but do them differently! I could eat them for every meal!
The bowls are super generous and filling, I usually finish mine in 2 sittings, they're so big. I think they have the perfect balance of affordable, healthy, tasty, 'fast food'. Definitely check them out if you need a quick bite to eat in town.. and even more so if you're a falafel sceptic like me!
First stop...
š Banana Tree, 15 Milsom Street (where Cafe Rouge was)
We were kindly invited to try the new spot just before Christmas.. and my gosh was it tasty! It's a Pan-Asian street food inspired casual dining spot with plenty vegan options.
We had the Malaysian Kajang satay skewers to start and actually had to send them back to the kitchen because we thought it was real chicken! (The kitchen confirmed they were the vegan ones!) I have no idea what chicken substitute they use but its by far the most realistic we've had.
The mains were both really delicious. Luke went for the blackened monks noodles and I opted for the tamarind spicy aubergine which was really deep in flavour.
Theres loads on their menu that I'd like to try but everything we had the first time was so good that we placed the exact same order through delievroo about a week later.
Thank you for having us we will be back!
*BIG VEGAN BATH UPDATE*
So, it's been a while. Not long after our very last post wayyy back in June! We found out we were pregnant! Beautiful news which was swiftly followed by a horrendous 3 months of nausea and unknown heart problems.. which were potentially down to a B12 deficiency.. naughty vegan. Fast forward to January of 2024 and all has settled. We're feeling like our old selves again and we're ready to bring you all up to date with all things vegan bath!
Don't worry the page won't turn into a mums account.. but if I do find some good vegan babe friendly spots.. I will let you know!
We were kindly gifted some delicious donuts and an incredible meal which I'll share with you all shortly!
Happy new year to you all!
SPOTLIGHT: VEGANS OF BATH
Luke De-Sciscio, musician
Now, Iāve been thinking of doing this one for a while but was a little torn as this handsome chap just so happens to be my fiancĆ©! (I know, Iām very lucky!) But, he is also a vegan and he does live in Bath so Iād be neglecting my duties if I didnāt let you lot know about him.
So here he is, your local vegan musician, Luke De-Sciscio.
Iāve asked Luke to let you know a little bit about him and why he makes music, so head to slide two to have a read of his words.
The type of music Luke makes is difficult to genreāise. He tends to make music from the moment, about the moment, captured ā most of the time ā in the very first moment of conception. Rarely are they edited or refined too much; always do they retain that magic spark of āādivineāā creation. The moment when a (hu)man steps out of the way of its ego just long enough to catch a whisper from the āāsoulāā. He records all of his songs in our bedroom, often with some accompanying percussion from me ā squeaking the bed frame, letting out a sneeze Iāve been holding in for 15 minutes, or muttering something intelligible when I think heās stopped. I love the rawness of the music Luke makes. I love his level of naked authenticity. He isnāt scared of himself and I think thatās a truly valuable thing to witness and to hear in his music.
He is a poet, a philosopher, a theologian, a lover, a mean dancer, an undeniably great guitar player and a bloody great singer. Seeing him live is unlike any other musical experience Iāve ever had and I defy anybody on this planet not to find a song of his that they love.
If you are free on Thursday 8thĀ June come and join us at the Chapel Arts Centre, Bath (see slide 3 for more details) to see the man himself perform live as part of the Bath Fringe Festival.
If you canāt come and catch Luke live then delve into his music ā available on all streaming platforms. He has released over 150 songs ā ranging from soaring falsetto ballads, piano numbers, purely instrumental pieces, guitar picking folk to absolute heart break wrapped up in a āāsongāā.
All out love, your friendly local vegans.
š Comins Tea, Monmouth Street, Bath
(Sorry for the blury photos - sometimes you just don't get em)
Last week I discovered this little hidden gem courtesy of the lovely .
Tucked away on Monmouth Street is Comins Tea, a British fine Tea merchants serving as a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of the Christmas Markets.
For Tea lovers this is an absolute paradise! With an extensive menu of fine single estate loose-leaf teas and a great selection of small plates to accompany them.
There are loads of vegan options from porridge to matcha lollys and kale salads in between! The full menu is on the last image.
We had the Kimchi & Mushroom gyoza dumplings with a matcha tea and chocolate cheese cake. All very tasty and wholesome.
I'd definitely reccomend a visit to Comins and I'll be back for gyoza very soon!
