We've been enjoying getting to know some of our South African producers and opening the wines to taste in our shop. Today (Friday 20th) and tomorrow (Sat 21st) it's the turn of the excellent wines from Thelema in Stellenbosch. Long term favourites of the team here, these wines are brilliantly made by Thomas Webb and his Team. Thomas is pictured here with his dad, Gyles Webb who founded Thelema. Very high above the Lebanese coastal city of Batroun are the steep sided vineyards of Ixsir. International grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Viognier rub shoulders with local grapes like Caladoc to produce gloriously fresh and intense whites, reds and rose ~ These wines are on promotion throughout this month ~ To continue this month's tasting series, these wines will be open to try this Friday 13th and Saturday 14th Sept ~

We have two truly great producers in and - To give you a flavour here is the tasting note from for the Sauska on winning 97/100 Platinum - “youthful nose displaying aromas of Mirabelle, bright lemon curd, honey, bruised apples, citrus zest, and apricots marmalade. Sweet and rich, lip-smacking with a vibrant acidity providing a lovely freshness. It ends with a lingering finish.”​​​​​​​​

Great experience to taste this selection of top class wines from with James Hall. We learned a awful lot about and more besides - a few of these are promoted for Christmas, and the team can’t recommend them highly enough! fruit for example is truly remarkable.
