It is all too easy to be filled with the wrong chemicals.
Stress, anxiety, trauma, work-life, home-life, media, all influence your body's chemical balance and content. Prolonged periods of stress chemicals like Cortisol and Adrenaline compromise your wellbeing and immune system.
The more you can release the feel-good chemicals that are healthy for your mind and body, the better. Oxytocin is really important as it will counter stress chemicals.

"...I don't understand why I can't just get over it"
When you have a trauma, phobia or anxiety, it may sound easy to just blank it out or ignore it, however, that is the perspective of the conscious mind. The conscious mind is only about 10% of your brain. Trauma, etc reside in the remaining 90% of your brain, the subconscious and unconscious mind. The trauma and associated thoughts become part of your programming.
It requires some specialist work to access this and remove those thoughts. Think of it like getting an antivirus program after accidentally downloading a virus on your computer.
My role is to be the antivirus and access the deep files in your brain. Once these are dealt with, you can operate much more efficiently and effectively and no stress.

"Energy flows where the focus goes."
Now there's a double-edged sword!! That's great when all appears to be going well, however, when you are in a difficult time, it's all too easy to slide downhill.
Your brain looks for patterns, so if you are having a bad time, then your brain will look for negative things to reaffirm that feeling. If you aren't careful, that will become your mood and persona. Not good... not good at all.
With all that is happening and the slurry feed of the media, it can be easy to have your day be given a negative bias. Stop it! Stop it now!
If you look at things from a positive viewpoint, then guess what? Yep, you can create a more positive feeling and outlook. Waking up in the morning and saying to yourself that you are going to have a good day starts the process. we already discovered the brain looks for patterns to reaffirm this, so it will find the positives in the day. It may be hard work to begin with, depending on your situation however, like any skill, it gets better with practice.

Coping at work: No!
Nobody should endure stress and burnout at work. I certainly don't agree with the all too common statements that people need to learn how to 'cope'!
I interpret that as "Nothing has improved, so let's see if we can get through it". That's too vague for me and probably of no benefit to the staff or the company. The individual or team needs to be trained in recognising and being proactive in preventing stress as much as possible. Yes, some jobs or careers can contain high-stress levels, however, teaching them how to create and maintain their mental well-being is vital and changes the work environment for the better. It's the old phrase of "Prevention is better than cure".
Having worked in the Occupational Health sector, I have seen the huge quantity of employees (and management) who access the OH assistance of counselors and medical staff due to becoming overwhelmed in their job.
How many businesses have lost staff to excessive stress or distress? What has been the cost to the business for losing that talented individual or team? What becomes of those who endured the pressures and potential illness?
