On the subject of timing...
Morrisons delivery due..
Husband putting child to bed..
Its raining...
My thought, oh, Its an ideal time to move that hollyhock and rearrange the logs for the raised bed!
a) well obviously!
b) what is wrong with you!

Worked out perfectly, delivery was late, my response was give her some fresh eggs because she'd obviously had a crap day. Perfect, everyone happy.

We need to see colour, to deal with this, this is a white people issue. I have explained to my daughter that people get treated badly just because of their skin colour or heritage, that a man in America was killed by a policemen because he was black. That this was by no means the first time. That this sort of abuse has happened to many many people. That it is part of a history that includes the slave trade amongst other things. That much of Bath was built on the money from slavers. I have told her that we are sad and angry about this. She looked shocked that people behave that way. Sad, but they need to know, for this to change. Education is the way forward.

Listen when people tell you about the racism they have experienced, but please don't ask black or minority ethnic people you know to explain it to you. It can be retraumatising to repeat the many, many experiences that they have lived. There is plenty of information out there, and people who have chosen to tell their stories. Take the burden, do the work. There is so much out there that didn't know. For example, did you know when bombs were first used in the USA it was against its own citizens? https://www.history.com/topics/roaring-twenties/tulsa-race-massacre
