"How does life coaching differ from therapy?
Life coaching and therapy are both forms of support aimed at helping individuals improve their lives, but they differ in their focus, approach, and goals:
1. **Life Coaching**:
- Focuses on setting and achieving personal or professional goals, enhancing performance, and improving overall well-being.
- Often forward-looking, focusing on the present and future rather than delving deeply into past issues.
- Utilises techniques such as goal setting, accountability, and action planning to help clients reach their desired outcomes.
- Typically, life coaches work with clients who are functioning relatively well but seek guidance and support to excel in specific areas of their lives.
2. **Therapy**:
- Focuses on addressing mental health issues, emotional difficulties, and behavioural patterns.
- Often explores past experiences, traumas, and patterns of thinking or behaviour to promote healing and personal growth.
- Utilises various therapeutic techniques, such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), psychoanalysis, or mindfulness, depending on the client's needs and the therapist's approach.
- Therapists are trained mental health professionals who work with individuals experiencing a wide range of psychological issues, from anxiety and depression to relationship problems and trauma."
"The effect of nutrition on your mental health : Question- can you remember the ingredients of your lunch?
-Poor convenient and processed foods can lead to poor mental health.
Consuming a diet high in processed foods, that lack essential nutrients, have shown to increase the risk of mental ill health. These foods may contribute to inflammation, oxidative stress, and imbalances in neurotransmitters, potentially influencing conditions like depression and anxiety. Opting for a diet rich in whole, nutrient-dense foods is generally beneficial for both physical and mental well-being.
-Neurotransmitters are affected
Poor nutrition can impact neurotransmitter functions in the brain. For example, inadequate intake of essential nutrients like amino acids, vitamins, and minerals can disrupt the synthesis of neurotransmitters such as serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine. These neurotransmitters play key roles in mood regulation, and imbalances may contribute to conditions like depression or anxiety. A well-balanced diet is crucial for supporting proper neurotransmitter function and overall good mental health.
A balanced diet rich in nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals is linked to improved cognitive function and mood regulation.
"Your pillars of safety
While sympathy involves feeling compassion or pity for someone’s hardships or challenges, it may not always be the most effective approach for helping people move forward.
How can being more empathic help you move forward?
Being empathic involves understanding and sharing the feelings of others and shared lived experiences canstimulate oxytocin “The hormone of human connection and bonding”
Empathy fosters meaningful connections, trust, and rapport in interpersonal relationships, as it enables individuals to validate others' experiences and provide genuine understanding and care.
Our aim during a life coaching session is to respect each clients values and beliefs by being showing empathy and attending to any nonverbal cues. Coaches are effective at active listening, and in creating a safe and supportive environment in which others are able to fully express themselves.
Essentially life coaching can be for anything you are struggling to move forward
with. Only you can decide whether life coaching can truly help you and when.
We recommend booking a discovery call and making the first step if you feel ready.

One of the biggest cultural influences in my life over the years has been that of Japan. The beauty, discipline and grace of this culture has shaped much of my own interests and approaches to life. I have spent most of my life training in martial arts and have identified my spiritual animal as a phoenix.
Some of my favourite learnings include the concepts of :
Shoganai:
Embrace the “unavoidable”. Accept what you can’t control and focus your energy on what you can.
Gaman:
Is about facing tough times gracefully. When life surprises you, stay strong, handle it with resilience, and keep moving forward, even if its just one step at a time.
This is probably the hardest (or easiest!) decision that only you can make. First set your agenda - identify a challenge you are struggling wiht. Then seek a coach who you feel aligns to your style and who you feel you can create the strongest rapport with - one who will help you work through these challenges the best.
Did you know that there are 3 different types of Ego's?
1. Id, Ego, and Superego (Sigmund Freud): Freud's structural model of the mind includes the ego as one of its components. The ego is responsible for mediating between the unconscious desires of the id and the moral and societal constraints of the superego.
2. Self-Esteem Ego: This concept focuses on an individual's self-esteem, self-worth, and self-image. It relates to how a person perceives themselves and their abilities, which can affect their behaviour and decision-making.
3. Social Ego: This term can refer to the persona or image that a person presents to others in a social context. It's how individuals project themselves in different social situations, and it may differ from their true self.
Is your 'Cup' ...
1. Full?- “is not dread of thirst when your well is full, the thirst that is unquenchable?
2. Half full? - For you to hold your destiny in your own hands you must carry other people on your journey through life. know there will be calm after every storm
3. Empty? - If you share your 'cup' with others, you may find that your cup is not so empty after all.
Vulnerability is one of the key magnets of life. It’s the admission that we can’t do life alone. We are designed to look after each other and this is the most basic human response. "Its a beautiful thing"
What is the most imortant quality you should you look for in your Life Coach? An Active Listener - Part IIOnce we have established trust and rapport, the next stage your coach will move to isunderstanding how best to supportyou to move forward with the agenda you have both agreed.
How can they do this?
4. Asking powerful questions: By listening attentively, your coach can identify areas where you may have some beliefs, biases or unhelpful thought patterns hat may be preventing your growth. This enables them to ask powerfulquestions that can help you challenge these to gain new insights.
5. Goal Clarification: Through active listening, your coach can help youclarify clear goals and objectives. They can support you in setting realistic SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) that are well-aligned with your values and aspirations.6. Problem Solving: Listening actively allows your coach to identifythe root causes of your challenges or obstacles you may be facing. This information is essential for collaboratively developing effectivestrategies and action plans.

How we all parent is different but hopefully the common goal is the
same "Happy child, Happy parent". Our bond with our little human is
crucial for their first steps in life. Sometimes we all need support as a
parent and life coaching can give the pillars of strength so you can provide
guidance, strategies, and encouragement on your childs special journey.
The aim is to empower parents to navigate their roles more effectively and
enhance overall family wellbeing.
What is the most imortant quality you should you look for in your Life Coach? An Active Listener - Part I
Active listening is a crucial skill for life coaching because it plays a fundamental
role in building rapport, fostering trust, and facilitating effective communication
between the coach and the client. Here are some of the key reasons why active
listening is important
1. Building Trust: Active listening demonstrates that the coach is fully present and
genuinely interested in the your concerns, goals, and experiences.
This helps build trust and rapport between both of you which is
essential for a productive coaching relationship.
2. Understanding: Active listening allows the coach to gain a deeper
understanding of your thoughts, feelings, and perspectives.
This understanding is vital for tailoring their coaching interventions to meet your
specific needs.
3. Empathy and Validation: Active listening helps the coach show empathy and
validate your emotions and experiences. This validation can be incredibly
empowering, making you feel heard and understood.

Oxytocin, often referred to as the "love hormone" or "bonding hormone,
" is associated with feelings of attachment and social bonding.
Hugging, as well as other forms of physical touch, can trigger
the release of oxytocin in the brain, contributing to a
sense of connection and well-being.
