“Bucket list stuff…best day of my life…this is crazy man” were just a couple of the quotes from the performers we took to perform at bp pulse LIVE in the NEC Birmingham warm up stage. This last 18 months has been a complete whirlwind so many pinch ourself moments. 15 years ago when this all started I couldn’t have even even imagined moments like this. One of the performers last night, summed it up when he said “man I didn’t see this coming eight years ago when I did my first performance shaking in a church’…Neither did we Jos but my goodness did you absolutely earn it along with all your band mates in Bear at the house. It was a privilege to spend the evening with these musicians and to see Kasabian do their thing in such spectacular fashion at an iconic venue! The bp pulse EVIP area was mad and a true bonus on a magic night! We have three more chances to experience this in the next five weeks and intend on soaking up every moment. In 2009 when only 12 drummers played a show at the Egg theatre and whilst proud, I couldn’t help but long for the moment they would have a band to play with and how great it would be of that band had other people learning their instruments as well! Over the years this dream was realised and a few weeks ago we closed our show @komedia_bath with this song. I sat on that stage next to a drum student who was there at the very first show we ever did beaming from ear to ear at what was being created by the 9 students, accompanied by their teachers that night. Listening back I’m just amazed at what working together can achieve and what these musicians are capable of, some of whom only taking their early steps into live performance. Thankyou to everyone who came before them and everyone who is making our dreams a reality now! We’ve been fortunate enough to have some videos made capturing some of the student experiences over the past year. Our visit to Abbey Road in April 23’ was such a significant one in our journey and was the springboard for some incredible things that proceeded it. Seeing the joy it brought, the progress the students made as well as the inspiration it gave others to strive to one day go was more than we’d imagined. Overwhelmed with the support we have received this week thank you to everyone ❤️

We only went and won an award! 👀 What a night hearing and feeling the warmth towards everyone connected with MUW and what they’ve achieved over the last year and more. I am always uncomfortable with praise and very rarely stop and think about what we’ve achieved as it’s always onto the next thing, but in all honesty the last two years have been the most insanely challenging of both mine, Buddy’s and many of the people connected to us’s lives. Through that fog of challenges has emerged the true forces of why I believe we are still here and growing. Yes all of us work incredibly hard but without some truly supportive kind and generous people who have helped us more than anyone will know I would not have been on that stage last night. The team of students, parents, friends, teachers past and present, partner organisations and trustees, many of whom believe in us sometimes more than we believe in ourselves got us through. special mention to Dan Spink Katie Stone- Lonergan Michael Dance Adam from the teaching team not pictured ❤️ We measure success by the impact we have on our community and those we meet but having other others recognise our efforts was really special. It’s Truly humbling and also inspiring hearing stories and meeting so many people within organisations working so hard In the creative sector in Bath. We are privileged to live in this city and call it home. Special thanks to everyone @creativebath who put this event together. When we set out to create Jam Lab the obvious route was to just go with the kids but why shouldn’t adults have the same space to learn to perform, create and let ourselves go?! Well we thought we should so adult Jam Lab was born and one of our greatest hopes is that from this project bands will form and friendships will be made long after the performance ends.
