Having fun making spooky pukeko shadows on the wall 😂 My grandfather watching on, from the family portrait taken probably in 1914 ❤️
Hurrah! At long last I have cast off my Victorian shawl!!! Now to add a crocheted trim on the long edge, weave in the ends, and then final blocking ❤️❤️❤️ It’s only taken me three years 😂 Many thanks to the ladies for all their advice!

It was Worldwide Knit in Public Day yesterday, but I’m lagging a day behind 😂 Here’s my current sock project 🧦
An exciting Friday night on the couch, in my pj’s, watching and continuing my corset flossing project. In the second photo, I prefer the cross-hatched flossing to the twisted one, so I’m going with that.
A small, low energy stash-busting project: making an apron and four kitchen chair cushions out of some strawberry print fabric I’ve had for maybe 18 years. It’s cheerful and I love it 😊 I might get some oven mitts out of the remainder.
Tea, sun, flowers and flossing! This is my first time ever flossing a corset. I decided to do something new (to me) and pretty up my 1890’s summer corset. Yay! Plus, it’s today so it’s nice to have lovely things to do while celebrating (?) the M.E. community and raising funds for M.E. charities and research. Many heartfelt thanks to Anna .me who instigated this shindig ❤️ Head over to her page for links to donate the cost of a cuppa and maybe a bit of cake 😊
Wow, I can't believe I hadn't changed my cover photo in SO LONG! :D
My Singers are so beautiful ❤️ I’ve been looking for a 99K to use the many attachments I have on, as they need a low shank and my 95K60 has a high one. I *have* been using a shank converter on my Bernina 801 Sport (since my other two, more plasticky, Singers both broke down on the same day and need the exact same new parts) but it’s not a great solution. Too many connections, too much juddering, and I definitely don’t want to damage my beloved Bernina. However… I have this pretty 113 year old 27K just sitting around being decorative… so… maybe restoring it can be my summer project… What do you reckon?
Sun!!!!!
Sunny day! Hooray!! Here are some happy little strawberry and blueberry flowers from my garden 😊
The Fashion Museum Bath recently posted a beautiful pink and black dress on their social media channels, and I remembered that I had studied that dress up close on a research visit. So here are my photos and blog post about BATMC 1.09.1308 (A&B I think).
Whew! I finally finished writing this blog post. I love writing, but I'd forgotten what a slog it is with chronic illness. Anyhoo, I did it! Yay! Enjoy
Extant 1860's Evening Gown Bodice Details Hello! It's that time of year again - the Prior Attire Victorian Ball is coming up fast, and we're all sewing frantically... well, I'm not b...
Squee! My copy of ‘The Equestrian Dressmaker’ arrived today! I’m excited to sit in the garden in the sun and read it. It is gorgeous, and has some really neat sewing construction details. If you’d like anything from Prior Attire, head over to the website super quick to take advantage of the Spring sale, ending this weekend. Use code SPRING24.
Today’s little bit of productivity is to add a few rows to my knitted shawl. I’ve already finished the main body of the shawl, and am about a third of the way through the border. After knitting up a couple of samples last year, I decided to knit the border separately and then crochet it together. It’s less fiddly for me that way. As seen in the picture, I use cotton crochet thread as lifelines just in case I make a mistake and have to unpick a bit - which happens more often than I’d like! I can’t find the book I got the main pattern from but will post it in the comments when I do. The border pattern is from an old ‘Modern Needlecraft’ book, the yarn is ! by , needles are by
My friends, I have treated myself to a book! The Prior Attire spring sale is still on, so I’ve picked up ‘The Equestrian Dressmaker’ ❤️ Get 15% off sitewide with the code SPRING24

Sorting through my Judgeware collection at Mum and Dad’s house. Difficult. It’s a bit of letting go of an old life, and deciding what I can *actually * use in my current/future life that’s restricted by stupid illness. I collected these because I love the aesthetic and the connection to the 1930’s-60’s domestic life, which I would spend time ‘living’ if I had the energy. Some of the pots have rusted through so that makes the decision easier. Some pieces I can replace easily enough in the UK. The less usual ones are definite keepers.
