With all the furore about the Oasis reunion, here are a few facts that highlight the current poor state of the music industry at a grass roots level.
1) Only 11 out of 34 venues still exist from Oasis' Supersonic tour
2) Wembley Stadium will be adding £2.75 to the cost of every Oasis ticket as a "Sustainability" fee!!
3) The Music Venue Trust has long advocated adding a £1 grass roots sustainability fee to every stadia and large venue ticket to ensure that up and coming bands have somewhere to play in the future. To date, most venues refuse to do this.
4) Spotify will not pay any royalties to bands for tracks unless they reach a minimum threshold of 1,000 streams per track.
5) Spotify pay you a maximum of £0.005 per stream (if you are lucky).
Everything is stacked against grass roots bands at this time. They struggle to find venues, they get nothing for their music unless they sell physical copies and the A&R person at record labels is virtually extinct. What a s**t show. If Oasis started out now they probably wouldn't make it. 😔

The field lends itself to creating its own vibe with whoever is there. Skafield was exactly that. Last year's guests (now mates) came back with their family and friends.
The sound engineer said it was the gig of the season .. "it was punk,"
The engagement 💍 , the kids going nuts to music they had yet to experience
I do hope the two-tone revolution keeps growing, creating and uniting people and communities.
It is completely inclusive and represents an attitude we need to see back.
