Ripple Effect
Bringing farmers in rural Africa together to learn more, grow more and sell more.š± Weāre creating a wave of change in rural Africa. But we donāt stop there.
Rural Africa is rich with opportunity: with resourceful communities, and land from which food and futures can grow š±
But families face poverty that is extreme, cruel, and worst of all ā unnecessary. The knowledge and skills needed for farmers to grow more and sell more is often lost. And now the climate crisis is threatening to push millions of people back into extreme poverty. It starts when we

Uganda has one of the youngest populations in the world: 78% of Ugandans are under 30. This presents significant development potential but also major challenges, as 64% of Ugandans aged 18-30 are unemployed. Many young people, especially young women, are in informal jobs with no income or market engagement.
Our project in Uganda is training young people in employment skills and opportunities for business start-ups in the fast-growing dairy industry. Over five years, we aim to train 63,400 young people aged 18-35 (70% of them young women), with the goal that 50,000 will achieve salaried or self-employment.
āEmpowering youth with skills today is the key to unlocking a brighter, more innovative tomorrow. Letās invest in their potential and watch them transform our world.ā - Egeru Deogratious, Regional Enterprise Development & Innovations Coordinator.

At Ripple Effect, we address why markets often fail rural farmers. After supporting smallholder farmers in producing enough food, we connect them to markets to sell their surplus and build income.
Our approach makes markets work for people living in poverty by developing farmers' understanding of market systems and removing barriers to participation. We influence decision-makers to ensure benefits flow to everyone.

This is what climate chaos looks like. Itās been a few weeks since the floods in Kenya hit news headlines, with articles highlighting the extent of the climate crisis. But how is this extreme weather affecting Ripple Effect farmers and projects?
We have a few projects in the regions of Kenya that have faced heavy rains and flooding. Some of the farmers we have closely worked with have seen their buildings destroyed and entire fields of crops washed away. There has been a lot of loss ā but also in some cases, evidence of resilienceā¦
