I’ve always fancied making a book Christmas tree - can’t take the credit for this one.
This week has been busy with…children’s book writing clubs at two schools; booking a whole-day workshop at a school for next year’s and getting one book into production and getting a new title commissioned! 🎉 📚
Can’t wait to see what the rest of this year has left in store (the other big C word can take a hike - only interested in this one 🌲 🎅 🎄
Two spaces left for tomorrow’s workshop at The Pound 😊
Something I never knew before setting up Peahen…For every UK printed publication/book issued an isbn/barcode, UK publishers have to send copies for the five legal deposit libraries. These are:
The University libraries at Cambridge, Oxford and Trinity College in Dublin and the National Libraries of Scotland and Wales.
It has been a joy to work with debut author Doreen Cox on her story Granny Cool. Doreen had the idea to write her story on seeing a lack of books she could connect with and read with her grandchildren that celebrate mixed heritage families. Many stories also depict grandparents as old - these emojis say it all! 👵 👴
Granny Cool is now at the printer and will be available by the end of next month. We’re excited!

I did something arty! I work with amazing designers and illustrators but sadly their skills never rub off on me. Today though I did this peahen! Won’t say how long it took (my arm nearly fell off) but loved the experience of working with chalky paints.
Not long until where I’ll be running a Book Lab workshop with some fab children’s writers and illustrator.
