The brief for this two tier birthday cake was “Escape to the Chateau” I didn’t want it to look like a wedding cake or a child’s cake. So I made the chateau out of modelling paste as close as I could get to the original. I then added beautiful hand made roses and piped some flowers.

Floral brownies for Dawn which were presented in a beautiful box I found in Home Sense.

I recently made this African print themed cake for a 50th Birthday.
The cake was coffee and walnut flavoured and the colourful print was made with modelling paste and hand painted.

Some chocolate treats for Daisys 18th. Chocolate drip cake and chocolate brownies.

I really enjoyed making this cake for our friend Mark especially as I was given some free reign on the design. Here you see the finished result and the initial idea on paper.
The bottom tier is a Victoria Sponge decorated with a Leeds Utd scarf and shields, Marks team. The second tier is Biscoff decorated to represent the work Mark does behind the scenes at his local Theatre and the top tier is a chocolate sponge decorated with a smart shirt and jacket effect. Which I think suits Mark perfectly! X

Today I had the pleasure in teaching Jo and Daisy how to make this lady figure. I think they did a brilliant job and I look forward to welcoming them back along with Sharon who couldn’t make it today for another lesson. Well done ladies!!

Today I had the pleasure of Skye’s company along with her mummy Lynda and her nanna (my lovely friend), Allison. We had a lovely couple of hours decorating Halloween cupcakes. Another “Star Baker” in the making! We also had time to make some spooky spiders to hang on a mobile or scare older big brother!!

I’ve just spent a brilliant couple of hours teaching these lovely young ladies how to decorate Halloween cup cakes. We’ve all had a brilliant time! And I have to say they are all “Star Bakers” and hopefully will be entering junior bake off soon!! Well done and I look forward to seeing you again at Christmas for Christmas Cupcakes!!

I still have spaces for this brilliant half term activity. Wednesday is full ! You can relax, enjoy a tea or coffee with some cake whilst I keep the kids busy for a couple of hours!!

My version of a Sachertorte. Instead of sandwiching the two layers with apricot jam I used chocolate buttercream and decorated it with chocolate roses made from modelling chocolate 😋

Don’t forget if you are looking for a kids activity over half term why not come along and let them spend a couple of hours decorating spootacular cupcakes, whilst you relax with a cup of tea or coffee and some cake!

It was a real pleasure to make this cake for Tim who is a good friend and a great rowing coach! The ladies squad wanted to say a “big thank you” for looking after them whilst their other coach is off.
I enjoyed combining Tim’s love of rowing with his rather dubious passion for AFC. But hey, we can’t all be perfect!!! X

Buttercream goals… the key to a good finish on a cake is in the foundations. A nicely baked sponge, silky smooth buttercream, crumb coating and level layers.

I love teaching…
Last week I had a one to one lesson with a lady who was gong to make her sons wedding cake. She was looking for help with this task and a friend of mine sent her my way. The brief was to crumb coat and create a rustic buttercream finish on three cakes. I’ve seen the finished cake and the lady in question did an amazing job, when I can I will post a picture. But this is what she said “ Thank you so much Lynda for such an amazing helpful lesson!
You are very skilled and it was great to see your demonstration.
I loved seeing your previous work. ..so talented!!”
I feel proud.

Sunflowers 🌻 and Daisies

I’ve posted a few teasers this week. Here is the finished cake.
A semi naked Victoria sponge decorated with beautiful flowers provided by my friend Hazel who made the stunning wedding bouquets and other floral decorations. Underneath you can see a mixture of vanilla, lemon and Biscoff cup cakes, with a gluten free option on the side. The cupcakes were decorated with buttercream sunflowers and daisies.
