Good morning, if you were listening to BBC 6 Music around 9:35 this morning, you’d have heard my yoga tea-time theme time. And if you missed it, you can listen here
Radcliffe and Maconie - An audio buffet of top tunes and chat - BBC Sounds Stuart Maconie presents a feast of great music and chat for weekend breakfast.
I know we’re in the middle of a heat-wave that’s breaking all records in the UK, but I’ve finished the granny square kimono I’ve been working on all summer, yay me!
Crochet is another passion of mine and I’ve loved combining yoga & crochet to make this little cover-up from to wear while I’m teaching.
I've written a new blog!
No mud, no lotus No mud, no lotus is a book by the late Vietnamese Buddhist monk, Thích Nhất Hạnh, where he explores the secret to happiness is to acknowledge and transform suffering, not to run away from it. The beautiful lotus flower needs mud to grow, hence the concept that from the unpleasant and unattracti...
Ensuring my yoga classes are accessible to everyone is very important to me. Your physical shape, the colour of your skin, the people you love…it doesn’t matter. Come join me on your mat, we’ll learn & grow together https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2022/jun/21/women-of-colour-challenge-white-uk-yoga-racism
‘Skinny, bendy and blonde’: women of colour challenge racism in UK yoga Despite its roots in India, the sector is not diverse, and women report ‘wall of silence’ about studios’ lack of inclusiveness
In this morning’s yoga class we went slow. As we build up to summer, it’s natural to get caught up in busy-ness, so an hour of slowing down is hugely beneficial. We worked on balance and core strength and finished the class with legs-up-the-wall (viparita karani), we needed a good rest!
Once home I found had been doing yoga too, practising his sphinx pose (salamba bhujangasana)
Thank you again to the beautiful souls who take a little pause in their day with me.
Feet (pada) are key to good alignment in yoga. Where you put your feet on your mat matters. Feet are also integral to many poses, from downward facing dogs to all the standing poses, so I always spend a bit of my yoga practice focusing on feet, getting the feet nice and warm so they’re ready for what is asked of them.
This is a pretty important week for Little Paws Yoga so I spoilt my feet with a long-overdue pedicure Toes to match my mat!
If you’ve visited you’ll be familiar with this sign. And if you haven’t, come and join me on Sunday mornings for yoga designed to banish gloomy moods and find your bliss

And that’s a wrap: this evening was the last yoga class for a few weeks. Back on our mats on 20 March (possibly 17, depends on a work thing that might be happening) for a little pause in your busy life.
Tonight’s class was all about water and the lack of it: camels, pyramids, boats, bridges, fishes in two guises, and a crocodile. All wonderfully nourishing, just as water is.
I took some snaps this evening, so I remember how much I enjoy teaching yoga; the first one is what you see, the second & third are what I see while I’m teaching!
Thank you all who’ve joined my classes this year, it’s a privilege and a pleasure to accompany you on your yoga journey. 🧘♂️
