Communications and Marketing Officer
(Reporting to the Board of Trustees)
Belfast Print Workshop (BPW) have been awarded funding from the Future Foundations Artwork Programme to continue the role of Communications and Marketing Officer.
BPW will offer one talented individual, employment, and immersion in a fully creative environment to develop and implement a digital management programme.
As a shared artist’s studio workspace, with a current membership of 70 (approx) artists, alongside visiting artists, studio events and exhibitions, the potential for creative development is vast.
As an established and well-respected art hub in the city centre, Belfast Print Workshop offers a structured opportunity within which to advance creative industry knowledge within the visual arts.
The post holder will work within all areas of the organisation’s diverse range of activity and programmes. The role will have a digital focus and use new technologies and resources to garner further audience reach and deeper engagement with audiences.
Our hope would be to build on our initial and recent advancement in the use of website led interactions and develop a stronger use of web presence to market and develop audience interaction both digitally and in real life.
The skill development opportunities within this newly created role will offer the post holder some freedom to research and trial their own design skills. There will be prescribed tasks and objective based work alongside the potential opportunity to try new formats and approaches.
Does creating digital content for over 70 artists and their shared studio sound like a positive challenge?
Can you demonstrate how you understand the link between good website management and social media activity increasing engagement both digitally and in real life?
Do you find artists inspiring?
What does audience engagement mean to you?
Are you 100% proficient in use of the Squarespace platform, and social media platforms, including but not limited to: Instagram, Facebook, TikTok.
Can you signpost us to your work online?
Can you demonstrate how you can plan and work on long-term projects and navigate a programme of work

Source Photography Writing Prize 2024
Writing Prize:
We are always looking for new writers to contribute to Source. If you've not written for Source before we invite you to send us an article. The winning entry will receive £500/€570 and we will either publish it or commission you to write an article for us in the future. All short listed entries will also be considered for publication or for future commissions (paid).
Most of the writing in Source takes a specific form: book reviews, exhibition reviews or texts introducing sets of pictures, so these would be good models to follow. But we are also interested in others forms of writing so if you want to submit something in a different form, then please do. Our interest in photography is not only about the photographs that appear in books and exhibitions; it touches most aspects of life and we like to read about those encounters too. This could be an article about a particular photograph of historical, aesthetic or biographical interest to you. It could be about some cultural or philosophical aspect of photography. It could be something we've not thought about. We enjoy writing that is thoughtful, funny, well researched and surprising. It could be personal or dispassionate. It could be fun, or deadly serious. It might shed new light on something we thought we knew or introduce us to something we've never heard of before.
The rules:
1. You should not have written for Source before.
2. The article must be no more than 700 words.
3. The article should not have been published previously.
4. It should include your name and contact email.
5. It should be submitted by 5.30pm (GMT) on 1 August 2024
What will happen next:
Everything submitted will be read by Source Editor Richard West who will long-list entries. The Source staff will collectively choose the shortlist and winner. We will aim to reply to everyone who has submitted an article by 20 September (depending on how many submissions there are).
All details can be found on our website via https://www.source.ie/writingprize2024/

Lift Ground Printmaking Workshop with Perry Johnson, One day workshop, Friday 26th July 2024, 10am - 4pm
Drawing and painting are so direct, and that's where most of us start. For the beginner, it can be a big step to visualize how a needled hard ground may look when printed. Lift grounds can bridge that because one can draw with a dark material on a light background. In the workshop, we'll explore direct mark making with various drawings and painting media and appropriate grounds.
Belfast Print Workshop (BPW) is pleased to host Perry Johnson, MFA, Associate Professor - Painting & Printmaking, School of Art, Craft & Design, Tennessee Tech University, artist residency for a week in July
Perry will be sharing his knowledge, and a workshop has been arranged to explore this interesting technique while he is with BPW (in partnership with Seacourt Print Workshop)
Join Perry in the BPW studio for this one day workshop
Date - Friday 26th July 2024,
Time - 10am - 4pm
Price - £75
Venue - Belfast Print Workshop (BPW), Cotton Court Building, 30-42 Waring Street, BT1 2ED
Materials are all provided on the course, but please bring any additional drawing, painting materials and of course an idea and/or image as inspiration
