Hillmount History

Hillmount Garden Centre can trace it’s roots back to the dark days of the Second World War when, in 1940, Hill Mercer and his wife Lily established a Market gardening business growing much needed vegetables for the local markets in Belfast.

Over the intervening 78 years and four generations of the Mercer family, Hillmount has transformed itself as markets and the needs of its customers have changed so that today it is recognised as one of the leading Garden Centres in Northern Ireland .

Today Hillmount is run by Robin & Edith Mercer....a husband and wife team who have expanded Hillmount to three stores. Hillmount Bangor, Hillmount Ards & Hillmount Belfast employing over 100 staff.
