VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION - Michael Burrowes
Why Do You Volunteer at the Cafe? -
It is a nice change from the normalities of work and study in my everyday life: Wednesday morning is the time when I get to chat to and work with some great folks, refine my barista skills, and give back to my favourite café.
There's never pressure on you, not like you might get from an actual job, and everybody is a pleasure to be around. It is simply a wholesome place which I can't help but love!
Thank you for everything you do Michael! You're an absolute star.
The Hub Cafe does not run itself... Every day, volunteers give up their precious time to help keep cafe operations running smoothly. So we want to make sure you all know who makes your coffees, cooks your panini and washes your dishes. Each week we will post a short bio of those who work behind the counter!
It’s only right to begin with someone who not only gives up his day to serve in the cafe, but has given up an entire year to do so! We asked Matthew Irvine why he has decided to spend this year working in the cafe...
“I spent last summer working in a youth camp in America, and found myself asking the question what’s next for me? I was asking the Lord where he wants to take me, and I fell across the advertisement for the Hub Cafe… I felt it on my heart that God wants me to minister to his people through serving them… so I did”
Next Friday, it's time to stick on your ugliest Christmas jumper and hurry down to the cafe for a day of festive fun! We're going to have live music from 9:30 - 4:00 as well as mini Christmas dinners and treats being sold all day! Not only that, but there will be an "ugliest Christmas jumper" competition, so go big or go home! All of this is in effort to raise funds for the Hub's mission trip to Uganda in 2019, so if you're feeling generous, bring a fiver to help an amazing cause. See you there!
We spent quite a while trying to think of a caption... but we’ll just let the food speak for itself
