Reading is a vital part of your child’s development, and can help to expand imagination, storytelling skills, concentration and listening skills, as well as providing a form of escapism and entertainment. I can help you to select suitable reading material for your children whatever their age.

This statistic really made us sad: '21% of parents of three to four-year-olds “don’t feel comfortable in bookshops” and 46% are “overwhelmed" by choice'.
So here's where we come in. Let us bring the bookshop to you. Get in contact with your local Usborne Organiser and let them talk you through the books that they would recommend for your children, and help you to pick the books that they'll want to read over and over again. These little cuties all took part in a trial of our personal shopping service. Their mummies provided me with some details about their little ones, their age, interests and topics that they might like to explore. I then selected books from the Usborne 2018 catalogue and popped them in the post. Easy peasy!! It’s a great way to expand what your little one is reading and encourage them to explore new topics. Usually this page is all about the laughs but I want to get serious for a moment to address an issue that I believe to be an absolute disgrace.
My children’s school received a letter this week advising that they are one of 631 schools in Northern Ireland that have not had their 2017/18 budget approved. The result is a significantly reduced budget and financial inability to continue providing the high standard of education they have done to date.
This is a devastating state of affairs that will have serious repercussions for the future of ALL children in the province.
Northern Ireland has previously upheld extremely high standards in education, with our pupils outperforming the rest of the UK year after year. Those standards of excellence are now at grave risk because of the way funds are being allocated. Urgent change is needed.
I’m aware we are in a state of limbo in terms of government here in NI but I firmly believe money should not be taken from the schools.
You cannot put a price on a good education.
