Dressing a room

When the trades have completed their jobs and the soft furnishings have been installed the refurbished room/rooms can be dressed.

For most people this is the most exciting stage of the interior design process. It’s the time when one’s room can be made more personal.

Some clients have a piece of artwork or a family heirloom they would like to include within their new space. Other clients give me carte Blanche.

Even though I’m given a free hand to dress the room I like to include items that reflect the personality of the homeowner.

Some clients find it easy to visualise my design schemes with the use of the mood boards I present.

Other clients prefer to see the design in greater detail using photoreal imaging.

Each detail can be depicted, allowing the client to grasp the design in its entirety.

Bedroom refurbishments are one of my favourite rooms to design

My clients live very busy lives and their bedrooms are not only a room to sleep in but also a haven to spend some relaxing away from the noise of family life.

I understand that not every bedroom has the option to create a window seat but on this occasion their double aspect corner window was the perfect opportunity to do just this.

I decided on a monochrome colour pallet with several patterns and textures within it.

Details such as lighting and cushions enhanced the mood

Photoreal imaging allows the client to see how their new design will look when implemented.

Sometimes it’s difficult for a client to visualise a design scheme from line drawings.

In my opinion, it’s an investment worth its weight in gold

Handles

I like choosing handles which are a little bit different

These handles were chosen for drawers to a walk in robe.

Corner decor

When designing a room it’s important not to leave out the corners.

Placing furniture in such a way to make room for side tables or floor lamps makes such a difference.

Lighting in a corner casts shadows which creates atmosphere

Home and Contract Design now takes appointments on their Page.

Pink, navy and gold works perfectly together.

The combination of these colours are a marriage made in heaven.

The strong navy which is offset with pastel pink works really well in this guest bedroom.

The pastel pink and gold wallpaper form the perfect backdrop to the headboard.

The chrome studs which accentuate the shape of the headboard add detail.

And the artwork, which the clients totally fell in love with, is the perfect piece to add finesse to the bedroom.

Statement side tables

When designing a room it’s important to include statement pieces.

These could include furniture, artwork, upholstery or an accessory.

When entering a room one’s eye is drawn to the most interesting piece in the room.

It’s also just as important not to overdo the design. An overworked design is worse than a room lacking in design detail.

To achieve the correct balance isn’t always easy.

Headboard Wall

The headboard wall is such an important wall to get right within one’s bedroom

Texture can be added by using cushions and a throw.

Don’t be afraid to mix colours and textures as this will enhance the decor.

It’s said that the second most popular requisite for someone looking for a new home is a beautiful bathroom.

Long gone are the days when bathrooms were purely used as functionality.

In my opinion no design scheme is complete without curtains or blinds

Curtains and blinds add softness and texture to a design scheme and in terms of practicality they block out sunlight and keep the room cosy when drawn.

I have an extensive fabric collection with the price per metre ranging from £35.00 to over £100.00. So all budgets are catered for.

Trimmings are very much back in vogue so the addition of a trimming to the leading edge adds that extra design feature

First project completed in time for 2022.

My clients were keen to have their room completed for the New Year.

It was a complete room refurbishment which included the installation of a gas fire and engineered flooring.

The installation of the gas fire was first on the list as this is the part of the project which involves structural work.

The engineered flooring was laid next and all other elements of the project followed in quick succession.

The clients were delighted with the result

The layout of a kitchen is as important as the choice of doors and worksurface.

Flooring is also very important and should be chosen in accordance to the usability and overall design of the kitchen units.

Double storey extension brickwork completed 😀

My clients waited almost 4 months to receive planning permission for this property so are chuffed to finality see the property starting to take shape.

The bricklayers have done such a great job.

Our professional team of tradesmen can upholster and install any type of upholstery project.

The luxurious upholstered bar front was upholstered in several panels and installed by my team of professional upholsterers.

Refurbishment of downstairs loo.

This space lacked personality so to create a more interesting space we installed units in a sea green colour, laid black and white floor tiles and hung a few pieces of colourful artwork.

The walls were painted a stone grey and the addition of a black mirror completed the look.
