ππ± Earth Day 2024: Let's Save Our Planet! ππ±
πΏπ What is Earth Day?
Earth Day is a special day celebrated around the world on April 22nd each year. It's a day when people come together to show love and appreciation for our beautiful planet and take action to help protect it. Earth Day reminds us that every small action counts and that we all have the power to make a positive impact on our environment!
πΏπ Let's Be Eco-Heroes!
As young eco-heroes, we can do so many things to make a difference! Here are some fun and easy ways we can celebrate Earth Day and protect our planet:
1οΈβ£ Plant a Tree: Join a tree-planting event or plant a tree in your own back garden. Trees help clean the air, provide us with oxygen, and create habitats for animals.
2οΈβ£ Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Remember the 3 R's! Reduce the amount of waste we create, reuse things instead of throwing them away, and recycle items like paper, plastic, and glass.
3οΈβ£ Save Energy: Turn off lights when you leave a room, unplug electronics when you're not using them, and use energy-efficient light bulbs. Every little bit helps to save energy!
4οΈβ£ Explore Nature: Take a nature walk, go hiking, or visit a local park. Enjoy the beauty of our planet and learn about the plants and animals that call it home.
5οΈβ£ Spread the Word: Share what you've learned about Earth Day with your friends and family. Encourage them to join you in taking small steps to protect our planet.
πΏπ Fun Fact: Earth Day Every Day
Remember, every day can be Earth Day! By making these eco-friendly habits a part of our daily lives, we can make a lasting impact on the health of our planet. So, let's continue to be eco-warriors and protect Mother Earth all year round!
Together, we can make a difference and create a greener and healthier planet for ourselves and future generations. Let's celebrate Earth Day 2024 with love, enthusiasm, and a commitment to taking care of our incredible planet! ππ

π₯ Lowest Scores Accepted By Grammars 2022 - 2014 π₯
You ready for another piece of the 𧩠to help when making your post-primary school decisions?
You may have seen this blog already but if you haven't, this is handy to see what scores grammar schools have accepted in the past. π€
The scores / grades provided cover 2014 - 2022 (with a gap for Covid) and this should offer you an indication as to the general popularity of the school, usually combined with the density of the area.
For example, Rathmore is always oversubscribed and so you'll consistently see that a child would've needed an A to secure a place at that school, whereas other grammars may have accepted B1 or lower - it just really depends on a number of factors.
I do have some 2023 scores and I'll add these over time (when I get a minute), but for now, these years should give you a sound overview of what's likely to be required to secure a place at your preferred grammar.

Human Rights Day is an international celebration of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The United Nations (UN) adopted the declaration on 10th December 1948. The document describes the basic rights of every human, such as the right to live freely and safely. The UN recognises Human Rights Day every year on December 10th.

30th November - 12th December
COP28 stands for the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. You might also hear this referred to as the UN climate change convention.
At the annual climate COP, delegates from nearly every country on Earth negotiate global goals for tackling climate change, present their individual countriesβ plans for contributing to those goals, and report on their progress.
Itβs not just our future, but our children's future. Children and youth all over the world will be disproportionately impacted by climate change. We need meaningful action on climate justice now.

π₯ What To Bring / Not To Bring π₯
As a busy parent, it's easy to miss the details so just taking a moment to consolidate and make sure everyone knows that they need to bring, what they can bring and what the assessment centre will provide.
π€ Parents To Bring:
π Pupil ID Card - printed is best, and when you're printing it, print a few so you have backups.
π The child can bring a highlighter to use on the question paper only (not the answer sheet).
π€ The Assessment Centre Will Provide
π Pencils (the best type for the answer sheet)
π Rubber (in case the child makes a mistake)
π Water for the child
π Spare paper - if child requires more they just need to raise their hand
π There will be a clock in the room for the child to monitor their progress and they'll be told exactly what time the test will finish.
If your child is doing the test this year, and you're looking for some last minute practice, check out The Transfer Tutor with thousands of questions across thirty topics in English and maths, so the perfect for honing in on challenging topics at this stage.
