Brooklyn multi-instrumentalist Joan As Police Woman returns to Belfast on Tuesday 8th April 2025 to play the Limelight 2..

Joan is known to many for her collaborations with Antony, Rufus Wainwright, Lou Reed and David Sylvian. A deeply soulful artist who crosses musical genres effortlessly.

Lemons, Limes And Orchids is the sixth formal studio album from American alt-rock musician and producer Joan Wasser, under her name Joan As Police Woman. A distinctly nocturnal sounding affair concerning the ability (or inability) for human beings to let go and move on from events in life and love, it’s one of the most impressive displays of Wasser’s unique voice.

Strange Victory + Limelight Belfast are proud to present the first ever Northern Irish show by Chicago legends the JESUS LIZARD on Tuesday 14th January 2025..

Tickets on sale this Friday morning from Ticketmaster..

In the jade-cultivating climes of online rock journalism, the angle of “band has new album,” is about as interesting as watching Instagram reels of your brother-in-law’s recent bathroom remodel. But when a band decides to follow up their last album from over 26 years ago? That’s high on testicular fortitude and as dumb as fidget spinners.

Yet, when that band is the Jesus Lizard, everything in your pathetic cultural dystopia suddenly falls away and the air smells like Heaven… Their seventh studio album, Rack, produced by Paul Allen, and slated for release on September 13 via Ipecac Recordings, features 11 tracks of brisk guitar rock you haven’t heard since… the last time the Jesus Lizard took over a stage in your town.

The Jesus Lizard — vocalist David Yow, guitarist Duane Denison, bassist David Wm. Sims, and drummer Mac McNeilly — have returned with a record teeming with the kind of madness needed to beat down today’s AOR mediocrity and piss-perfect pop drivel alike.

Huge thanks to the amazing Timo for helping make it happen.. X

Moving On Music & Strange Victory are delighted to welcome JOHN FRANCIS FLYNN and band back to Belfast for their biggest headline show to date.

Tickets https://www.citizenticket.com/events/moving-on-music/john-francis-flynn/

John Francis Flynn is an artist firmly at the vanguard of a new Irish music; both rooted in the tradition but also side-stepping a "paddywhackery" that he struggles to stomach. John masterfully unpicks traditional songs and rearranges them with a deep, emotional force. They float in a surreal space between the past and the present, the analog and the digital, between love and tragedy.

While supporting Lankum on their 2019 UK tour he caught the eye of Geoff Travis and Jeanette Lee who quickly signed John to Rough Trade imprint label, River Lea.

John’s debut album ‘I Would Not Live Always’ was released through the label in Spring 2021. Produced by highly regarded producer, Brendan Jenkinson. This release further highlighted the enormous talent hidden away in the corners of Ireland’s folk scene.

His 2023 release, ‘Look Over The Wall, See The Sky’, is an album concerned with imagination, but not only with what John calls, “an imagined Ireland,” but also the re-imagining of traditional Irish music and the hopeful fantasy of an Ireland that could exist ‘over the wall’: powerful, hopeful and free.

"Full of generosity and insight; songs that show us to ourselves in the way perhaps only folk music can." The Quietus

"I Would Not Live Always offers a singular and striking clarity of vision." **** UNCUT

Dublin-born singer and composer Rachael Lavelle’s debut album ‘Big Dreams’, has quickly seen her become recognised as one of Ireland’s most exciting emerging talents. It’s seen the album receive a nomination for Ireland’s prestigious Choice Music Prize Album of the Year.

Lavelle has also been tapped up to tour with breakthrough Irish trailblazers Lankum and CMAT, as well as taking part in the Sorcha Richardson curated ‘Imagining Ireland’ at The Barbican in London and National Concert Hall in Dublin alongside SOAK, Ye Vagabonds, Aby Coulibaly and more.

Big Dreams’ is an existential coming-of-age album that chronicles the journey of a young woman searching for direction and meaning in a very strange world. Inspired by sounds of everyday life and an intriguing obsession with YouTube self-help videos, the album explores romance,directionless-ness, ambition and the expectations of the unsatisfied digital native. ‘Big Dreams’ is an introspective journey that invites the listener to ask what it means to be alive in the 21st century. Floating in a world that is at once full of irony and honesty, Rachael examines the essential things: sleeping, eating, work and the search for love, reimagining them in a dream-like musical landscape of luscious synths, manipulated vocals, cinematic sound design, strings, woodwind and electronic beats.

In the years prior to the release of her debut, Lavelle has also toured with the likes of Villagers and Anna B Savage. She’s also collaborated with a wide range of artists including Peter Broderick, Saint Sister and lent vocals to the aforementioned Villagers’ album ‘Fever Dream’ (via Domino Records).
