Loving the timeless elegance of these beautiful black& white photographs of my recent bride, Amy. I really enjoyed working with Amy to create a wedding a wedding dress that perfectly suited her petit little figure. The dress was made from embroidered tulle, silk satin with an asymmetrical neckline and a long silk chiffon lace edged drape fell from her shoulder into a long dramatic train. Little details of beading, feathers and matching hair clip all added to the elegance of the look. Thank you Amy for allowing me to share your stunning photos. Dress: Make up: Photos:
I really enjoyed this design collaboration with my good friend Janice Gilmore, a very talented textile embroidery designer. Janice was commissioned to create a beautiful bespoke wedding veil incorporating her textile designs. With no experience of creating veils she asked me for help, guidance and studio space ! Which I was more than happy to do !! We both worked closely with the bride and her mum and spent many very enjoyable days working together in the Alison-Jayne Couture studio creating the special veil. The decoration comprised of embroidered leaves from her Mum’s wedding dress, (which Janice had made 30years ago!) silk flowers from Alison-Jayne Couture, hand embellishments, beading and lots of hand sewing hours. The bride was absolutely delighted with the final result!! 💕 It was such a delight to collaborate with Janice ! I hope we will get to work together again sometime
This is the story of two brides a Mother & Daughter Audrey& Nialla, wearing the same wedding dress 32years apart.
Nialla arrived in my studio wanting to wear her Mum’s beautiful cream silk jacquard wedding dress. I have a real passion for re working vintage dresses so this was the perfect project for me!
We wanted to keep as much of the original design as possible but it did need some restoration and re fitting.
I carefully unpicked the whole dress, replaced all the linings, repaired and restored it as sympathetically as possible. Seeing Nialla wear her Mum’s wedding dress was was very emotional for everyone… especially her parents. It was a delight to work with Nialla & Audrey .. I totally loved bringing this precious dress back to life… thank you to Nialla & Audrey for letting me share this story. 💕
When our niece Alice comes to stay with us … and you and your arty friends get over excited about her A’Level Textiles project !!! … the poor girl had two visits to the Ulster Museum, Botanic Gardens and the tropical ravine for inspiration .. followed by studio/workshop trips to Alison-Jayne Couture Studio, Pageant Jewellery Studio, Patrica Millar Ceramics Workshop and Maud McArthur Artist . It was an action packed inspirational few days !! Big thank you to Janice Gilmore, Patricia Millar and Maud !!!
Big thank you to Mairead Scullion for treating me to such a fabulous evening… “Zandra Rhodes in Conversation” at the new University of Ulster in Belfast … it was part of the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival . Dame Zandra Rhodes has been such a force of design, fashion, creativity and colour for well over 50years !! At age 82 she still an incredible inspiration to all designers.. she is still working, sketching, creating and advocating the wearing of colour !!! What a joy!!! 💕💕💕💕💕
Even on an Easter break away I am thinking about my brides !! While sourcing trims/fabrics for one of my clients I found the perfect one from a supplier I follow on Instagram ….. only to discover they were based in Riga, Latvia…. where we had booked our Easter city break !! I was able to visit the amazing showroom in person, purchase for my client, pick up a few things for the studio and get inspired by all the beautiful fabrics and trims !! 💕
Big thank you to Kortuija for making me feel so welcome … I hope to visit again sometime!! 🇱🇻

Love this Edwardian dress circa 1900 so much detail and stunning use of so many fabrics… sadly the maker is unknown… but what a delight it has survived all these years !

Clia dreaming in her Alison-Jayne Couture prom dress in the walled garden 🪴🦋🌸💕
Loving this mini photo shoot of my model & ballerina Clia in her Alison-Jayne Couture prom dress. The dress was inspired by the mid 1950’s styles and was made from blue silk chiffon over pale pink satin with a tulle bodice. The skirt and bodice was covered in sparkling butterflies and dragonflies which were all hand appliquéd on ! 💕 🦋
The perfect dress for Clia !!

I am heartbroken to hear this news … Kim was so creative, funny and totally fabulous . We both had such fun creating her “non conventional” wedding dress in the Spring of 2017 and she was definitely one of my most memorable brides, for all the right reasons!
Deepest sympathy to her husband Andrew and all her family and friends.
She will be missed.
Much love Alison-Jayne.
