Amadan
Theatre ensemble
Just a reminder we have a small number of places left for the first in our Workshop Series taking place at Lyric Belfast this Sunday. The interest has been amazing and we look forward to delivering this session which will focus on play. Full details below.
The Workshop Series is a new initiative from Amadan Ensemble aimed at providing a regular, fun and informal place to play and share skills. This is a monthly series of workshops exploring a variety of theatre training techniques, led by Amadan Creative Directors, Gemma Mae Halligan and Jude Quinn, and is aimed at professional arts practitioners. It is also open to anyone interested in the performing arts, no matter their level of experience. As working theatre practitioners, we understand how isolating the profession can be, especially between jobs. The Workshop Series has been designed to create a welcoming space to play, practise, learn and connect with each other. Through our kind support by the National Lottery through the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, we are able to offer this on a 'Pay What You Can' basis.
We are pleased to be hosted by the Lyric Theatre Creative Learning Department for our first workshop which will focus on Play.
Times - 2pm to 5pm
Date - 29 Sep 2024
Location - Lyric Theatre, Ridgeway Room
To book your place please contact us at [email protected] Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Please wear comfortable clothing that you can move in.

This week, Gemma has been Studios in Waterford as part of the Four Nations NEST Bursary to work on our walkabout act Mdme Kakapo & Son.
The last few days have been about stripping the set back to the bare bones and completely rebuilding it. Graham, Mike & Bobby have been making prototypes and trying stuff out to make our tea chests into a flat pack magical comedy creation.
Gemma has been in her element working with such brilliant and experienced builders. This bursary has been an amazing opportunity, and we can't wait to reveal the new & improved act.
Construct. Deconstruct. Reconstruct.
Tomorrow we are taking Geppetto to Playhouse Derry where we will have two performances, 2pm and 6pm. Come and experience the magic for yourself.

Last night we ended our run at Lyric Belfast with another full house. What made it all the more special was having a 101 year old audience member in the house, who told us it was the best mime he'd seen in 50 years.
So, when we say Geppetto is for 6yrs plus, we really do put emphasis on the plus!
Thank you so, so much to all the wonderful staff at The Lyric who made us feel so welcome and to everyone who came to see the show over the run.
The van is packed and we are ready to hit the road again. All details below:
