Some native Irish flora as gap fillers for David, both the Hawthorn and Hazel tree have symbolic roots in the folkloric culture.

Hawthorn is often associated with protection, particularly the black hawthorn would be used to make fighting sticks. Hawthorn trees are often seen standing alone in the middle of a field as they're seen as gateways for the Sí, and it's bad luck to cut them down.  

Hazel is associated with knowledge and poetic inspiration, often commonly associating them with the druids. It was said that nine hazel trees grew around the sacred well that fed all the rivers of Ireland, the hazelnuts that fell from these trees were eaten by the Salmon of knowledge, gaining him all the knowledge of the world.

Tummy tickler for the baddest bean 💁🏻‍♀️

Huge thanks to Stephen for trusting me to turn his grandad's badass ring into this tattoo for him. The ring is very reminiscent of horse brasses that would adorned smokey dark pubs & it also looks like there are waves of water in the background. Probably referencing the classic Pharaoh's Horses motif, with the parting of the Red Sea in Exodus.

Loved every moment of this as it was very similar of how tattooers of the Victorian era would create images for tattooing. Taking inspiration from other crafts around them, often using catalogue books as a source for flash designs. Thanks again Stephen 🐴
