We have an exciting opportunity for an engineer to work alongside our Workshop Supervisor at Cougar Pumps in Berkhamsted.

We are looking for a candidate who is motivated and keen to learn about our products and in doing so, build their knowledge base.

Responsibilities:

• Repair and refurbishment of various brands of pumps
• Responsible for goods in/goods out

Skills and requirements:
• The ability to work as part of a small team, supporting colleagues
• Flexible and self-motivated and keen to embrace training
• Great communication skills, both verbal and written
• Customer-focused with a commitment to deliver excellent customer service
• Effective planning and organisational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Trained Forklift operator desirable
• Mechanical or engineering background desirable

The role is a full-time permanent position, based in Berkhamsted, Monday to Friday, 08.30am – 5pm.

Due to the nature of the role, there is no flexibility for remote working.

Salary : £18-£20kp.a.

Free parking, 23 days holidays, pro rata.

DOES YOUR PUMP, PUMP?

"My pump’s not sucking properly".

That's because pumps don't suck. They push.

If you are suffering a fall-off in pump performance, and assuming the pump is running normally (i.e. not overheating or making horrid noises) then the first place to look is on the inlet or suction side of the pump.

Take a look for any blocked filters or strainers, closed valves, blocked or restricted pipes. If it's boiler feed water or very hot liquids then NPSHa (net positive suction head available) may be limiting performance.

In fact, check anything that can impede flow into your pump.

If everything on the suction side is clear and as it should be, then obviously look on the discharge side for closed valves, blockages etc.

🚨EMERGENCY RESPONSE ALERT🚨

We recently responded to a customer's call regarding an issue with the pipework on their groundwater pump.

The original pipework was constructed using fittings designed for gravity flow systems. As a result, the pump eventually caused the pipework to burst, leading to flooding. If this hadn't been caught in time, the basement of the house would have flooded.

Our team responded within two hours of the call, and we quickly pumped down the area and rebuilt the pipework using UVPC pipework designed for pressurised water systems.

Thanks to our quick response and efficient solution, the groundwater system is now functioning properly.
