Rustic and rugged pieces of wood like this one are handpicked for added drama when the design is a bird of prey in full flow! 🔥🔥🔥 Every piece Chris makes starts with careful choice of wood, complementing and enhancing the design. This one is on our website now and we’re at Alnwick Markets tomorrow (Sat 6th) from 10-4.
Stags, stags & more stags! It’s fair to say we have a few stags in our range 🔥🔥and they are all available NOW to buy from our updated website http://www.charredwooduk.com.

We’re taking the weekend off for Chris’ birthday 🥳 but you can still see these and a small selection on the stall at Alnwick Markets today (Thur) from 10-4 or they are available to post, U.K. only. Handmade woodburning art, made in Northumberland.
It’s finally summer and we’ve got a lovely line up of events in July and August in the region. It’s a double market weekend for us, with the Lowick Village Fete on Saturday afternoon(2-5.30pm) & Wooler market on Sunday morning (10-1.30). This is one of the pieces I’ll have on the stall, also available for U.K. postage.
The wood is always the starting point for a Charred Wood piece, with spalted beech lending itself so well to an atmospheric setting like this one 🔥🔥 available now for U.K. postage or see it in person at Alnwick Markets today from 10-4.
We’ve got our own sycamore seedling & it’s doing well! There’s a row of sycamores along the edge of our village and our kids often collect the seeds and play with them so we’re chuffed that one of them has taken and it’s growing nicely! We use sycamore wood for our pieces so it feels appropriate to plant one in return. Will be lovely to watch it grow alongside the kids 🌱
Taking a cheeky weekend off for the half term holidays but I’ll be back to Alnwick market in June, once a fortnight. Wooler monthly market is on the 16th as well, my last one there until Sept so don’t miss it! We’re lucky to have great local markets and appreciate your support & custom 🔥🔥
We’ve got lots of pieces on our stall that we reckon are spot on for a Father’s Day gift! Ranging from £30 to £200, these are handmade wall decorations on kiln dried hardwoods with hooks to hang.

After months (years) of asking, Chris has finally made me some lovely seashells and I think they look great! What do you reckon? Should he do a few more seaside pieces?

We were all set for Alnwick market today but of course the wind has spoiled the party for the outdoor market- it’s tricky at this time of year so may be on and off for a few more weeks! In the meantime you can admire (or indeed buy😁) this beautiful boat piece on wonderful spalted Beech, it’s ready to post and measures approximately 40cm x 29cm.
Our local shop is punching above its weight! All credit to Lynsey and her team who put everything and then some into the business. If you’re passing through or staying near Lowick then make sure to stop by at the shop.

Our Story
Based in Northumberland, Charred Wood sources wood from the Scottish Borders and hand burns unique designs to create beautiful wall decorations for your home. Choose a popular design or send your own picture in for a customised gift or treat for yourself!
We are a family business; husband and wife work together to create designs and come up with new ideas which Chris then burns into the wood using pyrography pens and woodburning tools. He studied Art at
college in Edinburgh where he grew up but spent 2o years working in pubs and bars and has only recently taken up pyrography, first as a hobby and now as a full time job.
Carolina does the local markets and craft fairs as well as social media and all the admin so it really is a team effort. We love what we do and are inspired by our surroundings; we live in coastal north Northumberland and also enjoy exploring the Scottish Borders, Newcastle and Edinburgh so will regularly include features from these places in our pieces.
