I hope your year has started well! I've been in Bromsgrove this week, participating in a fantastic, very informative free business start-up course, organised by the Enterprising Worcestershire programme by Worcestershire County Council and delivered by Smarter Society at Bromsgrove Baptist Church .
I put some of their brilliant advice in practice and did some advertising today, bringing in a red velvet cake to share with other course participants 😉😋
Happy Christmas everyone!

It's wonderful to get such feedback!
These have been the most popular flavours so far - quite classical! For the entire list of the flavours that I offer, please check my website.
Isn't carrot cake batter absolutely gorgeous?!? I'm looking forward to trying also other vegetables in cakes. What would you suggest? Courgette and lime? Beetroot and chocolate? Or anything else? Let me know!

My husband and I are currently binge-watching the previous seasons of The Great British Bake-Off. The other day we had our own contest - The Great British-Estonian Grate-Off! I was grating carrots for a carrot cake and he was trying to get burnt on grease off the hob. It was a win-win!
This week I provided lunch for a trustees' meeting. Amongst other things I tried out this recipe for an oil based sponge called Most Versatile Hero Sponge that Anges de Sucre has graciously shared on their website and page. The feedback was very good so I thought it would be worth sharing with you guys as well. Happy baking!
Just thought I'd show a selection of cakes I've made before, many of them while I was working at the amazing coffee shop Just Love At Clementine's in Bewdley. Which one of my cakes was your favourite?
Hello! I'm Merle and I'm the owner and baker at Forest Lake Cakes. I was born and raised in Estonia but I have studied and lived in other countries for years - Sweden, Belgium and for the past 8 years in the UK. I've always loved baking and it gives me a lot of joy to make from scratch something beautiful and delicious that brings a smile to another person's face.
It's December! Welcome to one of my favourite months. Back in Estonia where I come from, we often already have snow at this time of year ❄️❄️❄️ This is something that I really miss here in the UK. I used to do cross country skiing ⛷️ but of course you can't do that here. When I was considering entering a Christmas cake contest at the Franche Community Church in Kidderminster, I didn't have a specific design in mind. However, after a while the cake took on a life of its own and became an igloo church! I didn't end up entering that cake in the contest after all but shared it with the wonderful hardworking volunteers at the Wyre Forest Foodbank.
