Have you caught The Shanty? It's the reel deal! 🎣

It’s 1961, the start of the Swinging Sixties, Wimpy launches the Shanty Burger, a delicious golden fish fillet simply served in a toasted white bun with lettuce and a slice of lemon on the side. So popular, it was quickly joined by the Shanty Salad and Shanty Brunch.

In homage we’ve launched this month’s Wimpy Legend — The Shanty – but hurry, it’s only available until 30th September!

Did you know, Wimpy was founded by Mr Edward V Gold in Indiana, USA? He opened his first Wimpy Grills restaurant back in 1934, inspired by the hamburger-munching ‘Wellington Wimpy’ character featured in Popeye.

By the late '70s, Wimpy UK had adopted its very own iconic character in the form of the friendly Beefeater Mr Wimpy, who helped celebrate our delicious hamburgers for decades to come.
