Tim O'Brien has very kindly supplied an artists impression of the building after renovations. Along with plans showing a flexible use of space from Hugh Owens they provide a visual of Jan's dream for the building.
Jan has owned the building for over 45 years and in that time it has been used for commercial photography, advertising, graphic art and display. She would like to gift the building and seek funds for the development of the internal space and retain and restore some of the external historical features of the building.
A locally led organisation will be created to develop a social enterprise and it is hoped that partner organisations will help to bring the project to fruition.
Jan is in the process of registering a CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation). There will be a small number of Trustees and she is hoping to to develop many 'Friends of Long Acre Studios' to help drive the project forward.
The Gallery will be closing its doors in December. We would like to thank all our customers and artists for their support and hope you will join in the studios new venture.
After renovations and building work we hope to open at the end of 2024 as a creative centre for the community. This will include art, music, drama and spiritual and holistic wellbeing.
Looking forward to seeing you all in the not too distant future.
Thank you all.
A little date for your diaries. The Christmas Artisan Fair, Saturday 19th November 10.00 - 4.00. Jan will be on hand for book signing as her fourth children's book 'HERB DELIGHTS ' is now printed. Long Acre Studios, Long Acre, Bingham, Nottingham NG13 8BG
Look out for this original painting by Tim O'Brien in our shop window. In June, Tim's daughter Niamh was invited to the Platinum Party at the palace for her work with St John Ambulance and Tim was her Plus One. From sketches Tim made at the event, he painted this large canvas a few days later in his Bingham studio. A picture that is even more poignant with the passing of Her Majesty.
We are delighted to have framed this painting of the Battle of Britain Memorial at Capel-le-Ferne, near Folkestone, Kent for local artist Tim O'Brien. It was recently unveiled, in the presence of the museum Trustees, at The Royal Air Force Club, 128 Piccadilly, London, where it will go on display. Tim is seen here, standing behind his picture along with the Trustees and two special guests: Flt Lt Colin Bell DFC, a 100 year old wartime pilot, holding the wine glass, and Jan Leeming the former BBC newsreader, standing behind the painting.
Not just pictures, This was the wedding tie of the clients grandfather.
Are you old enough to remember Noggin The Nog?
It was a pleasure to frame this oil painting by Tim O'Brien, titled 'A Beautiful View', as the Duke of Rutland has purchased it for his collection. It features a trio of Tiger Moth biplanes passing Belvoir Castle in the summer of 1948, on route to their base at RAF Newton. Tim informs us that he delivered the painting yesterday and met the Duke who reminisced about his flying experiences before pondering over which wall to display it.
Last week we were delighted to help Bingham artist Tim O'Brien frame these two paintings that have been selected for pre-selection to the forthcoming exhibition at the Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA) at the Mall Galleries, London.
Unfinished wood that was hand painted along with a white slip.
The painting on the left is the former HMS Hermes at the breakers yard in Alang, India while the one on the right is at Marina Grande, Sorrento
