Before and after..
Here are some images of a project that we've just finished.
We have added a Pergola, a small section of fencing, a sleeper bed and the new patio made with Nordus Gris (Slate)
This project had a few challenges. The access was poor, so everything had to be carried in and out with buckets. We couldn't even get a wheelbarrow through. Also, there wasn't anywhere to put a skip, so all waste had to be removed and put in a skip that was off-site. Even with these challenges, it was an enjoyable job and we're happy with the result.. more importantly, so are the clients.
I love these Slate slabs, what do you think?

We've been back to a recent project this week to extend the work to the wall and steps, to tie it all together.
It was an old brick wall that had many loose bricks before. We made the wall solid, gave it a scratch coat and clad it in the same York stone slips as we used in the rest of the project. After that we did the pointing and tidied up. Now the area matches the new patio area and we think it looks great.

Here are some progress pictures of a project we've been doing.
We've added a border to this lawn. We dug out the area, put in the footings and built the retaining wall. Then we put in some stones and bricks to add some drainage and covered the area with heavy duty w**d barrier, then covered the border in polar white gravel.
There are a few other bits to this project do be done yet and once done, we'll upload the images.

Here are a couple of images of a porcelain patio that we laid recently.
We removed an existing patio, improved the sub-base and installed Venitian beige porcelain slabs. (We also used the recommended primer and grout)
The new paved area is a different shape and size to the old one, so we also laid some new turf to tie it all together.

One of the perks of this career is that we often get to work in beautiful places. Here's a picture of a small fencing project that we did a while ago.
There were about 3 makeshift fences there that had all been repaired multiple times, this looked messy and was blocking the view.
We removed all of the old fences and installed this one. You can't see it in the image but it's covered in a premium grade rabbit mesh to keep the sheep out of the garden.

Here are some images of a project that we finished recently.
We removed the existing patio, built a retaining wall out of sleepers, filled the area with roadstone and once I had been compacted, we laid the Kandla Grey sandstone slabs.
The Pergola was built at the same time which allowed us to use the sleepers and patio sub-base as a foundation, so it's incredibly strong.
The Pergola has a perspex cover over the top, so this area can now be used in all weather conditions.

These images are of a project completed at the same property as our last post, just on the other side of the beautiful, large garden.
We have built two decking areas and a Pergola with a four-pitched-roof.
We also did a small bit of brickwork and installed a new hand gate which seperates the larger decking area from the pool.
The weather was on our side for this part of the project, I had a great time, working in the sun in such a lovely location.
I was happy to have the opportunity to get the drone out to get some photos from up high.
If you like what you see and would like us to have a look at your next garden project, let us know and we’ll be happy to help.
Here are some images of a project that we completed recently.
There were two smaller areas covered in old stone slabs from the 60s, surrounded by a brick wall that would have been built at the same time.
We have expanded both areas and merged them into one big, open space.
The new wall was built with concrete blocks, then covered with a sand and cement mix to give it a scratch coat. Then, York stone slips were installed to give it this finish.
The patio is Indian Sandstone (Fossil Mint) in a mixed pattern.
We have added ACO drains near the property and covered them with decorative gravel to give the edges a watertight finish that visually ties in with the aesthetic.
We also backfilled behind the new wall and laid new turf so that once its all settled in, it will look like it was always there.
This was a very enjoyable job and we’re happy with the result.
what do you think?
Here are some progress shots taken on a project that we did in Edinburgh.
We built a highly insulated recreation room, some fencing to match and landscaped the area to tie it all in with the garden.
You can really see the colours of the Western Red Cedar cladding pop once it's been been coated with a UV protective oil.

Here are some more pictures that are related to a recent post. They were taken while the project was still ongoing.
You can see the skylight at the rear of the building and the curve in the roof more clearly in these images.
I like the way daylight comes in through the back of the building and how the structure wraps around the tree. The building ties in really well in this garden.

This media wall was completed late last year. There was a false chimney breast in place when we arrived.
We carefully dismantled the existing structure and started our studwork. Once our frame and electrics were in place, we plasterboarded and had come in to plaster it for us.
Once the plaster had dried, the media wall had two coats of paint, the skirting was installed and the 2nd fix electrics were completed. Finally, the sky box was mounted on the wall along with the TV bracket and the TV itself.

Here's an interesting one. A number of years ago, before Sawdust and Stone Ltd was even an idea. My dad, my brother and I built a few Shepherd's huts. Here are a few images of one of them.
We built the entire thing you see in these images, from the chassis to the last lick of paint. We made 4 or 5 of these, some traditional like this one and some more modern. We even bought an old (1700s) Showman's wagon that used to be owned by a lion tamer. We restored it and sold it on to a collector.
I would be glad to build another... that being said, feel free to get in touch if you would like one.

This compact home extension would be ideal for a number of situations. Maybe you work from home, you need a bigger kitchen, you would like to add value to your home. Maybe, all of the above. Or something different. The long and short of it, is that most homes would benefit greatly from one of these extensions.
This project took 3 weeks from start to finish. The structure itself exceeds building regulations standards and didn't require planning permission.

This project that we completed in North London was an interesting one.
It had a curved L-shaped roof with a "Green roof system." The Sedum (Green roof) absorbs and retains about 90% of the rain water that lands on it. This helps to prevent water run off and actually increases the insulation value of the building.
The specialised plants on the roof won't grow any higher than 6 inches, so it never needs to be mowed. They also change colour with the seasons and are great for wildlife.

Here are a few photos taken of some of the projects in 2023. We have media walls, Garden Rooms, cabinetry, roofing, landscaping and much more. It's been a busy year and despite various challenges, we've enjoyed it and are looking forward to 2024.
We hope you all have a safe and happy Christmas and we'll see you in the new year.
Here are some images of a landscaping project that we've just finished.
The first image is of the design. As you can see from the rest of the shots, it turned out exactly how we planned it.
It's not just any block paving, this is permeable block paving. That means that rain water can soak through the small gaps between the blocks and in to the structural drainage material beneath. This turns the entire driveway into a functional soak-away. There will be no pooling of water here.. ever. And with permeable paving systems, you don't need planning permission.
It was finished off with some sandstone slabs to act as stepping stones across the decorative gravel.
We're very happy with the result. What do you think?

Here are some images of our most recent media wall project.
We're very happy with the end result. It is a timber frame construction which has been fully plastered by . It has recesses for the TV, a soundbar and a 3 sided electric fireplace.

We recently hung some lovely, high quality doors from .
We had two that were glazed Oak, 4 solid Oak and one Shaker style white door to tie in with the kitchen cabinets.
The doors were part of a larger project that I will make a post about once it's completed.
________________
We've just finished this part of a larger project. This is calibrated "Fossil Mint" sandstone. The colours match the render and the doors/windows really well. We'll make another post on this project once it's all complete.
If you would like some of this beautiful paving, get in touch and we'll be happy to help.

Here is a project that we've just finished.
There was a sleeper bed already in the garden but the customers wanted it to be raised up for easier access and to make it more of a prominent feature.
After building the raised bed, we filled with a mixture of top soil and compost, then coved with a heavy duty w**d barrier, put the plants in the desired locations and covered with decorative stone. This looks beautiful and will now be very low maintenance.
