For this years #mentalhealthawarenessweek we thought it would be beneficial to record an informal podcast style discussion between our very own Operations Manager Aidan and Mike Wells - who hosts a mental health podcast called Unbottled. We have circulated the full video to our workforce and thought it would be beneficial to share to a wider audience. The theme for this year is ‘Loneliness’. One in four adults feel lonely some or all of the time. There’s no single cause and there’s no one solution, and its more common than you think. #Ivebeenthere is encouraging others to share their experiences, reduce stigma and come together to tackle loneliness. It may be the last week of Black History Month 2021 but that doesn’t mean the conversation stops. It is important that this event amplifies the key messages however we must honour black history and culture beyond October and throughout the year. This years campaign aims to make BHM personal and unique to individuals by sharing their pride in their heritage and culture – in their own way, in their own words. People are welcome to share their stories, experiences and what they are proud of below in the comments. It is more important than ever to understand and respect the cultural backgrounds of employees. As members of the Supply Chain Sustainability School we commit to actively promoting the requirements and ethos of the Fairness, Inclusion & Respect Programme. Whilst we’ve already made some great progress in diversity and inclusivity, we recognise that we are part of an industry that still faces many challenges. #BlackHistoryMonth provides an opportunity to share and understand the impact that black heritage has had on shaping the nation and celebrate the continued achievements of black people.
