Such a great day yesterday! Finally stepped outside my comfort zone to do something on stage at a design event, and what better place than Birmingham Design Festival

📚Make a Living Designing Logos by Logo Geek.

🤔Now I'm sure you're wondering why on earth would a graphic designer with all her experience would want to read this - surely she knows what she's doing???

True, in part - but let's face it none of us know EVERYTHING and I'm still learning.

😀And this book not only confirmed that many of my working practices are on track, but it also had some fabulous tips and tricks that I'd not tried.

Here's my top 3 learnings:

1️⃣ TYPE WALL –a page of the same word repeated multiple times in different fonts. When you get a new logo to design, just use ‘find and replace’ to change that word to the business name and hey presto a quick overview of how it looks when written in different font styles – GENIUS!!

2️⃣ LOGO PACKAGE EXPRESS 3 – the most amazing piece of software that creates all the file types and logo variations with minimal mouse clicks – GAME CHANGER!!

3️⃣ CREATIVE BLOCK is normal – THANK GOODNESS!!

I’m self taught, no degrees, got a D in English at school, and used to need help with my writing even into my college years. And now I wrote a whole damn book on my own, with only my sister and a friend reading through to give some thoughts and feedback… nobody else read the final thing but me, so was very daunting to get it printed and out there.
