It is almost skate time!!! Ahhhh yeahhh! After a week off we are all having some skate withdrawls and can't wait to blast around the track! Thursday 6pm-8pm, North Solihull Sports Centre.

Wow! I really didn't think a statement like this would be needed but recent conversations would imply that we do.

Here at Exile Rollergirls we do like to think of ourselves as a little bit different but in some things we are just like everyone else.

We take the safety of our skaters and our guests very seriously. Just like every other team. There seems to be assumption that we are just a rag tag bunch of people who don't care about the fundamentals of Roller Derby. This assumption is incorrect.

As you may be aware we are currently setting up an event. In this event we are planning on playing by an old rule set of Roller Derby. The reason for this is we want one last shot at playing the game we all fell in love with. It is a one off event, a fun little introduction of XRG to the world. Some people in the Roller Derby universe have expressed concerns implying that we are doing this maybe because we are trying sneak skaters into a bout without them being safe to do so. That we are trying to dodge paying for insurance. That we aren't concerned about the safety of our skaters doing this and endangering skaters, officials and spectators without a care. That we won't be training our skaters to the minimum standard to be bouting.

I would like to take this moment to assure all of those who are interested in join our little clan full time, in skating with us from time to time, in coming to our events whether that be to take part or spectate, your safety is our main concern!

The assumption that I would allow my skaters, my team, my friends, my lovely little Roller family to skate when they are not safe to do so, to imply that I would put people I care about in danger for a bit of fun is, quite frankly, fu***ng offensive and deeply insulting.

For those interested in our Old Skool event, you are in safe hands with us. Everything that needs to be done to keep you safe will be done. You have our word. You are in the hands of people who know what they are doing and do it well.

To those not interested in our Old Skool event, please feel free to keep your ill informed opinions of XRG to yourselves and not attend our events. We are fine with that.

Here at XRG we are already looking to the future!
Early 2018 we are looking to do an old Skool bout, WFTDA 4.0 rules. We are in the early stages so just putting the feelers out there at this stage.

The loose plan is:
XRG vs Mixed team
Mixed Co Ed team bout!
Both old skool bouts with WFTDA 4.0 rules.

This is dependent on interest. We need 14-28 ladies and 14 men. We would like you to have at least one bout under your belts but this is negotiable. Newbies interested in the old ways are just as welcome as the dinosaurs like us!
Obviously we would be looking for Refs with knowledge of 4.0 rules and NSOs too. It would be hosted in Birmingham almost certainly in mid January 2018.

Why are you an EXILE?
Not so much an Exile, more that I don't want to jump through the hoops of WFTDA to pass minimums and I want to skate somewhere closer to where I live and skate with my buddies!

What do her fellow Exiles think of her?
My overwhelming impression of Ms Hit-Her is she is always nicking my f**s after apparently "quitting"! That, and she makes me laugh! This girl is never unhappy, never bitching about people, always laughing. Other than being a cigarette thief, she's is pretty damn awesome.
