On this day in 1967, British Rail opened the newly rebuilt New Street station in Birmingham 🚂

The reopening of the station coincided with the electrification of the line between Birmingham and Euston ⚡️

The station was redesigned by Kenneth J. Davies and constructed from 1964 to 1967 to replace the old Victorian-era station that had been used since 1854. The new station was built with modern amenities and designed to cater to the increasing number of commuters and passengers.

Located opposite the station, Piccadilly Arcade has been a witness to the many changes that have taken place at New Street since 1910.
