POSITION: Stage Manager
RATE OF PAY: £550/week + £150 for ‘Pride’ total £1800
DATES: Monday 26th June - Saturday 15th July (days off 1st, 2nd, 8th, 10th July)
LOCATION: Norton Priory Museum & Gardens Runcorn WA7 1SX
DESCRIPTION: We are a not-for-profit CIC restaging our award winning winning 5 ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 80’s rock musical, based on Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
We are seeking a stage manager to work alongside the small (but perfectly formed!) creative team to bring this fab outdoor show to life. Ideally you’ll be confident (maybe even a bit bossy) with experience of supporting get in and get outs (alongside sound and light techs), to coordinate with the Director and MD to ensure the smooth running of the rehearsals (inc risk assessments etc) and generally keep the cast (and crew!) in line. Additional opportunity (included in fee above) to support ‘Pride in Halton’ on 8th July - or have a day off! Rehearsal times are generally 10/11am until 7pm ish. 2 weeks rehearsal (inc tech/dress) followed by an 8 show week.
This is genuinely a joyous show to work on and 3 weeks working outside in the glorious surroundings of Norton Priory is good for the soul!
Must be someone based in NW (Liverpool/Manchester etc) as no travel/accommodation is available. If you drive, that’s a bonus as the site isn’t always served well by public transport after rehearsals/shows.
The show is Exploding with a ‘totally awesome’ 80s inspired soundtrack, featuring leading UK Musical Theatre performers as the warring Queen and King of the Fairies, alongside a professional cast, live band & young performers entering into the performing arts.

🚨 BREAKING NEWS: Cinderella sets Gatehouse record ✨
The Gatehouse Theatre is delighted to announce that the recent CINDERELLA pantomime set new Box Office records for both attendances and receipts.
Critics and audiences raved about the laugh-a-minute show, calling it the ‘perfect family night out’.
Around 17,000 people poured through the Gatehouse doors over a three-week run, generating record receipts.
School parties came from all over the county and many performances were completely sold out.
There was also a huge boost from front of house sales, merchandise and catering revenue, as well as programme sales during the run, which was sponsored by Staffordshire University.
The pantomime, starring Harriet Thorpe from Absolutely Fabulous, comedian Ricky K and Stafford’s own Tom Vaughan was produced by Red Entertainment.
Local dancers also took part in the show, alongside the professional cast and acclaimed director Richard Cheshire, who lectures on Staffordshire University’s unique contemporary pantomime practice degree course.
Gatehouse manager Gary Stevens said: ‘We are absolutely delighted with the response to Cinderella – everyone had a ball.
‘Our previous pantomime Snow White had set the bar high, so to achieve an even better result with Cinderella is incredible really.
‘We’d like to thank everyone who came along to the show, the cast and crew, our brilliant army of volunteers and our staff who worked so hard over the festive period.’
Carolyn Trowbridge, Stafford Borough Council cabinet member for leisure, said: ‘It’s just brilliant that so many people saw the Gatehouse pantomime.
‘I laughed throughout and the whole production was first-class. I think everyone who saw it says the same thing – absolutely fabulous.
‘The theatre looked really festive and to have something as good as this right on our doorstep is a real boost for Stafford and the night-time economy.
‘A trip to the Gatehouse is a real highlight of the festive calendar and we can’t wait to do it again next Christmas too.’
More than 1,000 tickets have already been sold for this year’s pantomime Beauty and the Beast, which runs from December 8-31.
Meanwhile, attention is turning to the annual Stafford Shakespeare production which will be held at the Gatehouse for the first time this summer. Hundreds of tickets for ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ have already been snapped up, even before the much-anticipated cast is announced.
