Our Story
Guitar Lessons Birmingham Est. 2009
We are an independent music school in Birmingham UK providing quality instrumental tuition on Guitar, Piano, Drums, Bass and Vocals. I started playing guitar in the year 2000 and studied with private tutors until I began my studies at Birmingham Conservatoire. Whilst studying at the Conservatoire the โGuitar Lessons Birminghamโ story started in 2009 when I (Kit Robertshaw, middle on photo) started teaching guitar privately at pupilsโ homes around the Birmingham area. I then began teaching guitar for Yamaha Music Schools UK at a number of their sites in the midlands and after 4 of years of working for Brett Hollingworth at Octaves Yamaha Music School in Walsall plus growing the customer base and reputation of my own business in Birmingham I made the decision to open my own music school and shop in the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham (61 Caroline St B3 1UF).
I then recruited my best buddy and band mate of many years Joseph Cotterell (right on photo) to help with the teaching and general organisation of the music school and we have since grown the pupil numbers to over 150 per week and we have a team of 6 teachers working at the school.
We also sell a range of second hand and new guitars, books and accessories and offer FREE trial lessons on all of the musical instruments we provide tuition for. We teach all ages and stages! Pupils can work towards graded exams in their chosen instrument or simply learn music for fun and relaxation as a hobby
