Big progress on King Street in Dudley this week as new asphalt is looking clean and smooth, with new paintworks to follow shortly.
Ever wonder what it looks like to install a manhole? Well now you can see!
There’s so much that goes into building a new tramway that isn’t seen, and these preparatory works are ongoing in Kings Parade whilst track installation continues.

Need to travel in the Dudley area this evening?
This weekend's activities, either side of the Hanson's Ale Bridge, have wrapped ahead of schedule and the Birmingham New Road has reopened to traffic and pedestrians in both directions.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to bring this local icon back.
Sunday sees the bridge fully assembled with the team completing some last welds in order that the road is able to be re-opened on schedule. 👷♂

The Hanson's Ale bridge has returned, sporting its famous colours once more. Raise a glass to this iconic landmark – cheers! 🍻
And with that, all the structures for phase one of the Wednesbury to Brierley Hill route are now in place.

King Street and Birmingham Street have had more rail connected over the past week as works in the town centre continue move forward!
This week in Dale End we’re connecting the lines! 🛤️
Our skilled team are well underway with linking recently installed track to ones laid in previous years at Lower Bull Street with sleepers and sections of rails now in place.

We’ve almost finished “levelling-up” Parkhead Viaduct!
And speaking of levels, our team have been busy ensuring that the top-side of the structure is at an even level to ensure alignment for future track bed and track laying.

We’re celebrating another milestone on the Birmingham Eastside extension!
The team have successfully installed the first section rails in Dale End as we work to extend the track laid in Lower Bull Street through to Albert Street
🏗️ We’re just days away from a new, but familiar, bridge deck being installed on Birmingham new Road…
You’ll need to note the following if you’re travelling to and from the area:
🚧 Birmingham New Road will close at either side of the bridge from June 7-10 and June 14-17
🚥 June 21 – 24 traffic will flow towards Birmingham only
🚘If you’re driving follow the clearly signed diversion and allow extra time for their journey.
🚌 Public transport users should check with their operator for route changes
🚶Pedestrians are also asked to follow diversion signs
All local businesses and attractions remain open while we carry out our works.

Works are ramping up at Kings Parade in Birmingham City Centre:
Our team have been hard at work recently completing a first concrete pour in preparation for track installation to begin. This follows work to clear the area and upgrade and divert any utility services below ground, too!
Our very own Paul Georges and Wahiba Erriadi are at Birmingham City University Innovation Fest today sharing more about our Birmingham Eastside Metro extension and how the testing and commissioning programme works for the Metro.
