This is Whistling Jim 🎵
Jim is from Bolton but now lives in Heysham, he used to be a fireman and says he tackled 7 fires a day sometimes in the cotton mills. 🧯
Jim later went on to own a pub, in this picture he’s wearing his fire helmet and holding his fire axe! 🪓
The bell I’m the next image was given to him when he left.
Known for his whistling, he once whistled on TV with Vic Reeves!

5 interviews done this week, here’s Alex interviewing a lovely gentleman named Eric who was a test pilot for the aviation industry and was in the Royal Air Force. Do you know anyone around 70 years of age, who either moved to Lancashire or grew up here? Give us a message, we’d love to hear their stories!

We've been collecting lots of archival photographs for our upcoming exhibition of the 4th of June. Here's a sneak peak of a screen print made from a photograph from the Talbot Archive, to test weaving potential.

We are making tapestries to commemorate 70 years of the Queens reign and would like to include photographs from people in Lancashire, in the work. We would like to see your family photographs, days out, friends, events or just things that you think capture our Lancashire lives from the 1950's until today. We really want to tell this story through the voices and eyes of the people, so if you have anything you think we might like, please drop us a message and send us your wonderful memories to share.

From acid house to folklore, The Troubles to football terraces, we've explored a broad range of subjects in our work, most often related to the peculiarities of British life. This next work feels very different but chimes with our interest in heritage, human stories and cultures.
Jamie has been commissioned to represent Lancashire in the marking of the Queens Jubilee and team Uncultured Creatives will be producing and curating this new work.
