Glencoe Boarding Kennels & Cattery

This is a very difficult post to write.

As many of you will know, for the last 22 years I have been at Glencoe boarding kennels and cattery, and as the proprietor for over 21 of those years, however, I have made the tough decision to retire from Glencoe, I have had so so many happy years here, I’ve laughed with customers, and cried with many too, over the sad loss of their pets etc, some of us have even tried to put the world to rights.
But most of all I have had the pleasure of meeting lots of lovely people, and the privilege of loving and caring for hundreds of your pets over the best ever 22 years.
I would just like to say a personal “thank you” to each and every one of you that have entrusted your furbabies in our care here at Glencoe.

I would also like to thank all of my staff that have been part of the Glencoe team, past and present. Especially Shirley, who has been my right hand for the last 11 years, supporting both me and Glencoe through some tough times.

A special ‘thank you’ to Chloe who really is one in a million.🥂 thanks for everything Chloe x

And last but most definitely not least, my mum and dad 🥰, without their support my dream wouldn’t have been made possible.

The new owners are coming in soon to carry on running Glencoe boarding kennels and cattery just as you and your furbabies know and love it.

There are posts going round (yet again) saying don’t give dogs ice cubes. Utter rubbish, the only time it can be dangerous is IF your dog is suffering from heatstroke.
How to Avoid heatstroke..
Use common sense, Do not walk dogs in this hot weather. Keep all doors, windows closed with a fan on if you have one. Keep refreshing their water, every couple of hours, throw the water away (use to water the plants) then refill their dish with fresh cold water, put ice cubes in it too if you want. Your pooch will find the coolest spot to lay down just keep an eye on them and keep them cool.
Keep them safe, keep them cool. 🐾🐾🥰

We had some very sad news again today 😔 the gorgeous Gibson has passed over the rainbow 🌈 bridge this morning.
Gibson was the most gentle, loving, pooch, when I first had the pleasure of meeting Gibby he was a bit shy, but after about half an hour he was bouncing all over me, kissing me, playing and from that day on we had a very special bond. His pawrents had only brought him up to view the kennels 🤣 I’m happy to say he chose Glencoe as his holiday home. Gibby you were one in a million.
I know your pawrents are heartbroken but I know you’ll always be with them, you touched so many hearts Gibby and sadly broke a few today. Sleep tight big boy, we’ll see you on that bridge one day, till then keep giving those sloppy kisses out. Night night Angel # # #

A few more happy pets at Glencoe, a hot day again,🥵 but the cooling fans are all on and ice cubes are being replenished in the waters. So, cool Happy Pets here. 🥰🐾🐾😍

Please don’t risk it. Make some ice treats for your pooch, ideas are: put their favourite treat in water then freeze straight away. Our choices are blueberries, apple (cubed) carrot in a very diluted chicken or beef stock. (Butchers sell this stock)

We have had a very sad message regarding one of our lovely guests, Silvia.
Silvia had been coming to Glencoe cattery for many years, she was a beautiful Siamese cat, but boy did she know it. If she wasn’t in the mood for a stroke she would certainly let you know about it 🤣 this was just one of the very many things we all loved her for. Sadly Silvia has gone to kitty heaven 🌈 where we’re sure she will be ruling the place. Sleep tight Silvia you were a very special kitty 🐈‍⬛ 💕 xx
