Do you know what you’re buying? 🤔

The beef on the right is supermarket bought and the one on the left is farm beef. You can probably see the visible difference, but they don’t end there..

1. The supermarket mince bought is pumped full of additives and preservatives, including propyl gallate, to protect against spoilage due to long term air exposure.

2. There isn’t a guarantee of where that beef came from, OR how many cows are in it.

3 It may have the British 🇬🇧 label on it but as long as that animal was packaged in the UK, it can be called a Product of the United Kingdom.

4. The meat in the right package is not from one single cow, rather scraps from multiple cows. It may have come from Argentina, Canada, or Brazil.

5. The beef on the left is fresher, darker and is farm raised & locally sourced beef. It is filled with more nutrients & flavour. The mince is also from one cow and not just low quality scraps from multiple cows.

Meet Darrel, he’s been a cobbler in Blackburn for over 60 years and has resided in our market for nearly seven.

From shoe repairs to key cutting and even engraving, you can bet with 60 years of experience he knows what he’s doing 👞 🔑

You’ll find ‘Shoesmiths’ next to the market offices and by the market entrance.

It’s always lovely to see queues at our food stalls and guests enjoying their lunch in our seating areas. 🫶🏼

Splat is a silent comedy about art and creativity for ages 3-7.

Two artists, one tidy and one messy. Will they both manage to complete their masterpieces and learn to work together?

This is a splashy, splat-filled journey from the early scribblers to the great masters, in which the performers try to recreate the history of art with chaotic consequences.

Performances last 30 minutes. Shows at 11.30am & 1.30pm at Blackburn Market.

Suitable for ages 3-7 but we welcome younger audiences and unaccompanied grownups.

Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.

CIRCUS SKILLS WORKSHOP WITH CIRCUS HOUSE

Join The Circus House team for a circus skills workshop. Have a go with diablo, spin some plates, learn to juggle or even try aerial hoop!

The fully trained circus team will be delivering all of the sessions between 11am and 3pm at Blackburn Market.

THE OLD GREEN TIME MACHINE WITH COALESCE DANCE

The Old Green Time Machine follows the journey of two intrepid and quirky time travellers who are in a race to save the world. In a future where all living things have been destroyed and all that is left is plastic, our two adventurers find themselves on an urgent mission. It’s a shame their carbon friendly time machine bicycle has seen better days!

This family friendly show, for library spaces and unusual venues is a whirlwind of contemporary dance, music, poetry and fun. Performances include an interactive ‘Stay, Play and Learn’ session after the show!
Performances last for 20 minutes with stay and play immediately afterwards. Show times: 11.30am & 1.30pm at Blackburn Market.

AIR DRYING CLAY WORKSHOP WITH KIM STUTTARD

Join Kim from The Making Rooms for an air drying clay workshop. Experiment with shapes and patterns, colours and textures. Make a decoration – something for you to keep to remember your summer 2024. Create an ornament and give it as a gift. This workshop is all about experimenting with clay and seeing just how adaptable it can be.

This is a drop in activity happening between 11am and 3pm at Blackburn Market.
