Due to potential protests in Blackburn tomorrow, we want to alert families coming to Blackburn Central Library, that the town centre may be busier than usual.
Ahead of the potential protests in Blackburn town centre tomorrow, Councillor Phil Riley, Leader of the Council, has shared a statement, calling for calm and offering reassurance. Read it in full on The Shuttle website: https://theshuttle.org.uk/potential-protests-in-blackburn-saturday-3-august/
Lancashire Police have received no confirmation of a protest arranged through supporters of the English Defence League.
However, it’s believed that a counter-protest, standing against racism, may take place in Blackburn town centre around lunchtime, and could include a march that crosses Barbara Castle Way.
Traffic management arrangements are being put in place, in the event of the march going ahead.
Be aware that there could be traffic disruption and diversions from the junction of Victoria Street and Barbara Castle Way, and towards Town Hall Square.
