Gill has been out and about today delivering physiotherapy treatments including the k-laser in the comfort of the pets own home 🏠

We are very lucky to have also managed to keep hold of the lovely Gill Griffiths who is our resident veterinary physiotherapist, who very kindly covered for Gemma whilst she was off ❤️

This weekend we had a lovely break in the Lakes and a trip to the Ambleside Pet Shop 🐶

I love this little gem of a shop and fell even more in love this weekend when I discovered they hire dog buggies out for the day 👌

What a brilliant way to encourage people to enjoy the lovely walks in the Lake District, even if their dog has mobility issues 👍

I chatted with the lovely owner of the shop and told her how impressed I was ❤️

Make sure you stop in next time you are up there!

Baby news 🍼👶

We are very happy to announce the safe arrival of “Leo Ellis” weighing in at a whopping 8lb 13oz 💙

Gemma and baby Leo are doing reallly well, big brother Louie is taking his responsibilities very seriously already 💙

It’s been busy busy busy, time has flown by and now this one is officially off on her maternity leave ❤️

I’m sure you will all agree that she will be missed but the rest of the team have got you covered for now 🐶

Fed up of going out to work every day to earn a crust, while your dog, cat, rabbit or bird lounges around the house? Well, Pet Owners Independence Day aims to change all that. The idea of this wacky holiday is that the owners get a turn at lying on the carpet, while those fluffy, furry or feathered friends try out their talents in the workplace!

It’s time to celebrate Pet Owners Independence Day!

Don’t be afraid to ask!!!

When your pet is diagnosed with a chronic disease like arthritis it can be a whirlwind of information in a very short space of time 🤦‍♀️

Here are my top tips on how to start navigating it 👍

🐶 Try and stick with the same Vet/Vet nurse for information- find one at the practice who has an interest in pain management if possible- just ask we don’t bite 👍

🐶 Google but do it sensibly, find good knowledge sources- Canine Arthritis Management is definitely a good start 👍

🐶 Make a pain diary-even something as simple as good and bad days

🐶 Get a pitpat monitor- will really help you to keep an eye on your dogs activity in greater detail

🐶 Keep an open mind, there will be good days and bad days. You don’t have to navigate it alone though ❤️

I got really lucky when I became a mummy to my beautiful girlies 👧👧

Even though motherhood came with a chronic illness for me it’s still been everything I wished for and more ❤️

I’m so lucky to have the support network I do, so I can be the best mummy and still try and look after myself 🤦‍♀️ which let’s face it, at the moment its so hard to do 😞

Unfortunately today has been one of those days were my fibromyalgia decides it’s having this one 😠 (it seems to really like Sundays)

It’s ok though I’ll get back up and carry on because it’s what us mums do best 🙌

Even though the quote below seems to refer to the human-mum child bond I honestly feel it applies to all the pet mums out there as well. It’s something I witness everyday and it’s truly beautiful ❤️

Oh Frankie 🐶

We absolutely love seeing this boy ❤️

Not only does he bring us joy at his K-Laser appointments but he brings lots of other people joy as well because he is a therapy dog 😀

Frankie suffers with Elbow dysplasia so has regular K-Laser to help manage his symptoms 🙌

We have to keep him tip top then he can carry on his fantastic work with his mum ❤️

The beautiful Grace 🐶

Grace has been coming to see us to help manage her pain 🥲

She suffers with a condition called Syringomyelia 😞

It’s a very long word and basically means there is pressure being put along the spinal cord, this is caused by little fluid filled sacs.This leads to spinal pain and lots of other symptoms like constantly wanting to scratch her ear (phantom scratching) 🤦‍♀️

It’s treated with a multimodal approach of home modification, pain meds and complementary therapies 👍

Grace had tried acupuncture in the past with really good results but her owner decided to give the K-Laser a try 👍

After one session her owner cannot believe the difference 🙏

She went straight home and played tug of war with her friend, she was bouncing about like a puppy and even went out over the weekend and managed to allow people to stroke her without the immediate ear scratches or wincing in pain!

We are so happy she’s had such a good start and hope we can continue to help her live a better quality of life 🙌

Meet Gill! Some of you may already have met her whilst me and Gemma were on holiday last year (wow that feels like a long time now 😂)

Gill is a Vet Physio and will be helping us out with covering Gemma’s maternity leave and running physiotherapy clinics alongside us 👌

Our vision is to provide as much of a multi disciplinary team as we can to help your pets either at home or at one of our clinic locations in the North West 👍

This is a really good guide for owners of dogs with chronic pain 👍

“My dog is starting to slow down; he’s just getting old.”

How often do we hear this in everyday conversations with other dog owners? “Slowing down” is often seen as inevitable for older dogs, but in fact, age is not a disease.

Sadly, it is not age that makes dogs appear stiff and slow moving, it is pain. And what is worse, dogs are incredible at coping, which means signs of pain are typically subtle and may be missed until later in life when the dog’s discomfort is so pronounced that it becomes obvious to the observer.

Remember to regularly observe your dog and keep track of any changes you notice, whether in the way that they stand, sit, or move, or in the way that they behave (e.g., appearing grumpy or anti-social - withdrawing from people and activities they normally love).
