Look at the photo below. All these cars were parked up today on a back street in Thornton-Cleveleys. My pupil attempted to get through but we couldn't. Imagine if a van or ambulance was trying, they'd have no chance!

I teach all my pupils to park up in a Safe Convenient And Legal Position (SCALP). That means not blocking driveways, not parking on yellow lines or bus stops or NOT PARKING RIGHT NEXT TO ANOTHER CAR, thus keeping the road clear!

I passed my driving test in 1995 but it was very similar to the 1980s one described in this link. Which test was easier? Today's or the one in the 80s/90s?!?!

This group of forward-thinking ADIs and PDIs now possess a Psychological Toolkit to support their nervous learners with the driving test. Well done to Hannah Ryan for a great pass yesterday. I taught Hannah for a few lessons recently but unfortunately couldn't take her to test due to a clash of diaries/timings. Golden Mile driving school got her over the line.

Wondering what to do if you are driving and hear an ambulance siren or see flashing blue lights when you are parked up at a set of traffic lights? 🤔

Our crews don't want you to go through a red traffic light as you would be breaking the law and taking an unnecessary risk, however helpful you are trying to be. If you are first in the queue at a red light stay where you are and leave the ambulance to find a way around you.

Just arrived at the Driving Instructor Conference in Newark. Hopefully pick up some tips to keep me fresh!

Great start to the week. I slipped on my kitchen floor and fell heavily on my right arm. Been up to the drop in centre at Fleetwood, who gave me a thorough check over and x-ray. Luckily no breaks but I've got a badly swollen wrist. Lessons "SHOULD" continue as normal tomorrow onwards but hopefully you'll understand if I need to cancel at short notice!

According to the DVSA, these are the top ten reasons why people fail their driving tests:

1.Not making effective observations at junctions
2.Not using mirrors correctly when changing direction
3.Not moving off safely
4.Incorrect positioning when turning right at junctions
5.Not having proper control of the steering
6.Not responding appropriately to traffic lights
7.Not responding correctly to traffic signs
8.Poor positioning on the road during normal driving
9.Not responding correctly to road markings
10.Not keeping control of the vehicle during reverse parking
