Do Nails Need to Breathe?

Let's bust a popular myth in nail care: nails needing to "breathe." Spoiler alert – they don’t!
Here’s the scoop:

💅Nails are Dead Tissue:
Nails are made of keratin, a tough protein that doesn’t require oxygen. They don’t have lungs or blood vessels, so breathing is definitely not on their agenda!

💊Nail Health Comes from Within:
The secret to strong, beautiful nails lies in your overall health and diet. Nutrients like biotin, zinc, and iron are your nails’ best friends, promoting strength and growth from the inside out.

🛏️Rest Between Manicures:
While your nails don’t need to breathe, giving them a break between manicures can do wonders. It helps prevent dryness, peeling, and brittleness caused by constant use of polish and removers.

Nail Care Essentials:
💧Keep those nails and cuticles moisturised!
💪Strengthening treatments can be a game-changer.
☠️Avoid harsh chemicals and don’t overdo nail extensions or gel polish.

INCREASING OUR LAP SPAY CAPACITY

We’ve performed 110 lap spays at 387 Vets since we first started offering the procedure last year. With lap spays now accounting for over 70% of our female neuterings, we’re training more vets to be able to carry out the procedure so that we can offer greater availability of lap spay appointments. This is Sam coaching Olga. Key hole surgery is very different to normal operating as you do everything by watching what’s going on inside the patient on a screen!

Laparoscopic spays involve less trauma than normal spays which means recovery time is quicker and less post op pain relief is required. Dogs can get back to off lead exercising just 48 hours post-op. The Bare-Faced Test:
💦 Cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser and pat dry.
😳 Leave your skin bare for about an hour.
👀 Observe how your skin feels and looks.
