Where to seek help when you are grieving It can be difficult to speak openly about your grief. However, there are places you can seek help when you are grieving, from counselling to online support groups.

Loosing a loved one is difficult and the extra stress of finances and not knowing what you’re entitled too can make it harder.
That’s why when I visit families, I always make sure they are aware of any benefits they may be entitled too, to ease the burden ❤️

If your partner passes away and was under state pension age, you may be eligible to receive Bereavement Support Payment. This benefit is not means-tested.

How soon you make your claim after your partner's death may affect how much you receive and whether you receive it in instalments or as a single payment. Applying within three months of your partner’s death is advised.

National Bereaved Parents Day was set up in 2020 by the charity A Child of Mine, after they realised that there wasn’t a specific day that honoured bereaved parents from all walks of life.
