Run-down pub in Astley Bridge a step closer to transformation as latest plans approved PLANS to create a new orangery at the front of a run-down pub in Astley Bridge have been approved — as work to transform the building gathers pace.

Its been a while coming however work at the new Henighans Bar & Mediterranean Restaurant at Astley Bridge will recommence during July 2015.

We now have a Computer Generated Image created to show everyone what the final Bar & Restaurant will look like from the outside and I'm sure you will agree its a fantastic and impressive improvement to this important location within Astley Bridge. "Exciting Times" ahead - but wait until you see what we have planned for the inside.

Former Astley Bridge pub could be turned into Mediterranean restaurant, bar and apartments complex PLANS to transform a run-down pub in Astley Bridge into a Mediterranean restaurant, bar and apartments could be completed within a year.

It's Christmas and it's a Great Time to help others when in need!!

In one of our Pubs last week we had a Gentleman who was enjoying a game of Darts with his friends when he suddenly fell to the floor with heart failure. A shock and very sad for the Gentleman and all in the Pub at the time. Mercifully he was saved due to the actions of others on the night and a BIG THANK YOU goes out to all involved from Henighans. I'm glad to report that the nice Gentleman is making a great recovery and hopefully he will be back in the pub soon for another "UNEVENTFUL" game of darts this time :-).

So with this in mind Lyn, Gill and the Henighans Team have decided to raise funds for a Community Defibrillator and get out Staff Fully trained so if we (Henighans) or anyone else needs the defibrillator in or outside our local community then we will be able to assist them if they contact the Pub on 01204 862664.

OK so if your in Henighans Please do buy a Raffle Ticket and be part of a great cause, you never know you could also be part of saving someones life.

Lisa Ashton
Ashton reached the quarter finals of the 2007 Women's World Masters, beating 1996 finalist Heike Ernst of Germany in the last 16 before losing to Rilana Erades. The next year she reached the semi finals, beating Anne Kirk in the last 16 and then beat Australia's Cathy Shaw before losing to eventual winner Francis Hoenselaar. Ashton then won the 2008 Women's Zuiderduin Masters, beating Trina Gulliver in the final.

Ashton qualified for the 2009 Women's World Championship and made her debut at the event. She met Gulliver once more in the quarter-finals but was beaten 2-0.

In 2010, Ashton got as far as the Semi Finals of the Winmau World Masters where she lost to Francis Hoenselaar 4-2.

In 2011, Ashton defeated Trina Gulliver 4-1 to win the Winmau World Masters.

Ashton reached the final of the 2013 BDO World Darts Championship after defeating both Deta Hedman and Sharon Prins 2-0. In the final Ashton lost to Anastasia Dobromyslova 2–1.

Lisa Ashton hit 10 180s on her way to winning the 2014 BDO World Darts Championship at the Lakeside Country Club which had 16 women qualifiers for the first time in its history.[4] She defeated Number 7 seed Aileen De Graaf of the Netherlands in the first round in a match which went to a sudden death deciding leg in which pundits such as Bobby George described as the best women's darts match ever. She then defeated Tamara Schuur of the Netherlands in the Quarter Finals who surprisingly defeated 9 times World Champion Trina Gulliver in the first match of Lakeside 2014. She then beat number 3 seed Anastasia Dobromyslova of Russia in the semi final surviving 6 match darts who beat her in the final 12 months previously 2-1. She beat world number one Deta Hedman in the final 3-2 after being 2-0 behind and seeing Deta miss darts for the title.
