Being far from home, in the heart of the UK, this day brings a surge of pride and nostalgia. It's a day that unites us, overseas Pakistanis, in remembering the vision and determination of our beloved Quaid-e-Azam. His resilience and dedication in carving out a nation stands as a beacon of inspiration for all of us.

برٹش انڈین آرمی کے میجرجنرل ہیکٹر پینٹ کی بیٹی شیلا آئرن پینٹ، ایک برطانوی خاتون جنہوں نے 1887 میں لکھنو یونیورسٹی سے گریجویٹ کیا۔
ان کی والدہ برہمن فیملی سے تھیں جنہوں نے کرسچن مذہب اختیار کیا تھا۔
انہوں نے اپنے کیریئر کا آغاز بطور ٹیچر گوکھلے میموریل اسکول کلکتہ سے کیا۔
1931 میں ماسٹرز کرنے کے بعد وہ اندر پرستھا کالج، دہلی میں بطور اکنامک پروفیسر تعینات ھوئیں۔

شیلہ آئرن پینٹ نے 1932 میں پاکستان کے پہلے وزیراعظم
محترم لیاقت علی خان شہید رحمة الله علیہ کے ساتھ شادی کی ۔
تب مسلمان ہونے کے بعد انہوں نے اپنا نام بیگم رعنا لیاقت علی رکھ لیا۔۔۔
یوں تو وہ بہت ہی عمدہ اخلاق اور اعلیٰ کردار کی مالک تھیں۔
لیکن ایک ایسا سچ جو بہت کم لوگوں کو شاید معلوم ہو وہ یہ کہ جب وہ پاکستان کی سفیر بن کر ہالینڈ گئیں
تو ہالینڈ کی ملکہ ان کی بہت گہری دوست بن گئی۔
ایک دن ہالینڈ کی ملکہ نے ان سے کہا کہ اگر آج شطرنج تم جیت گئی تو میں اپنا ذاتی قلعہ تمہارے نام کر دوں گی ۔
بیگم رعنا نے اس بات کو منظور کرلیا اور کچھ دیر بعد بیگم رعنا لیاقت علی شطرنج کی بازی جیت گئی۔
ملکہ نے وعدے کے مطابق شاہی قلعہ ان کے نام کردیا۔
ماضی کے اس سچے واقعے کا ایک حیرت انگیز اور خوشگوار پہلو یہ ہے کہ بطور سفیر ۔۔۔ان کی وہاں ملازمت ختم ہوئی تو اپنے اس ذاتی قلعے کو انہوں نے پاکستانی سفارت خانے کو ہدیہ کر دیا۔
آج بھی پاکستانی سفارتخانہ اسی شاہی قلعے میں واقع ہے۔
میں نے جب یہ پورا واقعہ پڑھا تو بیگم رعنا کے کردار کا موازنہ عصر حاضر کے مشہور و معروف سیاستدانوں سے کیا
تو یہ بونے تو مجھے کسی قطار میں کھڑے نظر نہیں آئے
سوائے کرپشن اقربا پروری لوٹ کھسوٹ اور ملک کا ستیاناس کرنے کے ۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔
الله تعالٰی نے ماضی میں اس ملک کو ایسے زرخیز لوگ دیئے تھے
لیکن افسوس ۔۔۔
افسوس کہ آج ہم ان کی قربانیوں کو بھول گئے ہیں۔
