This Saturday was Ukraine's Independance Day. We highlight it because the club is pleased to have players from Ukraine in its teams. We hope they enjoy their football with us, although we know their thoughts will always be with their homeland.
Ukraine's Independence Day - 24 August 2024 33 years ago, Ukraine regained its independence. Today, Ukrainians fight to protect the freedom they conquered and safeguard the independence that they own by undeniable right. For Ukrainians, independence means more than a status.
A friendly game for our U11s against Thirsk Clarets and a picnic to say goodbye to a player heading south. Not bad for pre-season!
First training session of the season for our U7s development team. Some old (well, quite young actually) and some new faces too!
Big day for lots of players getting their GCSE results today. Best of luck from everyone at the club. Never mind how you do, there are always options!

We've had some excellent friendlies so far this preseason and we have time to squeeze one more in! This time, a midweek fixture (some of the girls mentioned weekends away, beer gardens, family time and even a bucking bronco when bank holiday Sunday was suggested so Tuesday night it is!). We look forward to welcoming York RI Ladies Football Team Reserves to Boroughbridge for a 6.30pm KO.

Great advice for grassoots coaches about using simple psychology in sessions.
𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬…
𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨 𝐩𝐬𝐲𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧.
Psychology is omnipresent…it is always there. And through your session design and through your voice you are doing it no matter what…you are doing it anyway.
To improve your delivery on this? To improve in the minuscule time you have with your players?
Use the facility of WhatsApp or email?
-ask players to share their best game so they have written evidence for them to return to.
-ask players to pick a model player and write out a description
Use the facility of WhatsApp or email…help your players transcribe a blueprint using their memory, perception, and imagination
Next, top and tail your weekly sessions with psychological skills. This is easy to do…
-first minute of your session have players mentally rehearse a great session
-second minute of your session have players talk to each other in pairs or in small groups about the great session they’re gonna have
-second to last minute of your session have players mentally rehearse what went well during the session
-last minute of your session have your players talk to each other in pairs or in small groups about what went well during the session
Grassroots coaches - you can help your players take charge of their mindset. Take control. Dominate their mindset. Take ownership of their mindset.
A final idea (of many that I have)…
Use water breaks!
During water breaks give players the opportunity to rest their bodies while keeping their minds active and sprightly. Do so by asking them questions…
“What did you learn in the activity?”
“What can you use from that activity in the game on Saturday in the game?”
“How can you help each other remember to execute that part of our game model?”
Open questions…players retrieving and processing…players actively resting and proactively learning…
Grassroots coaches. You do psychology in your role every second of every minute of every activity in every session. You can be an outstanding coaching psychology in your role as a coach. No matter your limited time with players, there are dozens of ways to improve your psychological delivery…
