Facebook and Instagram restored after outages 07/03/2024

Did you get locked out of Facebook earlier this week...? ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

A couple of businesses contacted me as they weren't able to log in to their own FB Business pages which impacted them and their clients.

However, as a social media manager, I was able to log in for them through my own access to their pages and help through:

- adding a Facebook post to give alternative contact information
- creating an automated message on Messenger for any enquiries

Whilst we usually encourage 'two-factor authentication' to be turned on to provide alternative logins, this didn't actually help users login in this week and many ended up in a very frustrating loop.

With heavy reliance on Facebook/Instagram for business these days, do you have alternative back-up methods set-up to contact your clients and receive enquiries in case this happens again?

Back from a great week in the lakes with my husband, son and .

Itโ€™s actually been our first proper holiday in 5 years ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Weโ€™ve been on lots of lovely walks, seen many of the lakes and the scenery was simply stunning!

Itโ€™s been a busy few months with one thing and another and Iโ€™m currently booked out with clients - but just wanted to say hi as itโ€™s been a while since my last post.

Weโ€™ve spent a few days just seeing family and friends, eating a lot of mini-egg related chocolate products and taking our dog, Arlo for sunny walks in Dorset, which is mainly what I do when Iโ€™m not working.

Back to work this week though and donโ€™t know about you, but itโ€™s been raining all day hereโ€ฆ๐Ÿ˜ž๐ŸŒง๏ธ

Remember to always have your customer in mind when trying to promote your service or product...

- Can you give them more time?
- Can you save them money?
- Can you help them technically?
- Can you relieve their pain?
- Can you bring well-being or joy to their world?
- Can you make their life just a little easier?
- Can you teach them something new?
- Can you treat them or a member of their family?

Always consider putting yourself in your customer's shoes and 'talk' to them in your posts. Share HOW you can make a difference in their world and if they see that, they might just need you at the right time.

Happy New Year to you all! A bit late to the party I know, but to be honest I've been really busy in December and January, which is partly the reason for my caption.

I know it's important to show up on here, however, with nearly 20 social media accounts to look after (....yes I counted them all last night) plus an e-commerce platform to monitor, I would much rather be spending time supporting other businesses than working on my own social media if I'm honest!

Through recommendation and building trust on and offline, I have taken on some new clients in the last few months which is great; kick-starting their socials and helping them gain a much better brand and consistent presence.

I am currently working with a financial training provider, a charity, an aesthetics clinic and a physiotherapist, adding to my portfolio of clients.

I'll be back again soon...but just wanted to say hi and wish you all a successful year! Would love to hear your plans...๐Ÿซถ

Whoops, forgive me for I have sinned...the one thing we should never do is neglect our own socials and can't believe it's been nearly 3 months since I posted! ๐Ÿคญ

Time has indeed gone by and since March, I have been very busy working with new clients which is great, doing research for some, using and learning about an
e-commerce platform, posting more on my puppy's IG than my own [], watching endless reels to Harry Styles music, trying to keep up with ALL the IG updates, AND...my younger brother got married 2 weeks ago which was a really lovely day indeed.

I know I haven't posted reels to trending music, I know I haven't shown my face, I know I haven't done videos on my own account, BUT am I stressed about it? Not really; I still enjoy my work, I know HOW to do these things but I am still in the process of helping my small businesses in Dorset with the basics, plus enjoying the free time I have with friends and family.

So... just wanted to say hello, see how you are all doing and let you know that if you need some help, I'm still here!

Instagram (IG) is always looking to grow and develop like any business. Adam Mosseri (Head of Instagram) recently announced Instagram are testing a number of features in the US including:

โœจ paid monthly subscriptions to offer exclusive IG content and features (only available for a handful of creators in the US at present). The intention is to provide predictable income to those creating content on IG.

โœจ the ability to switch between three different views on your Instagram home screen, HOME, FOLLOWING and FAVOURITES (two with the option to see posts in chronological order).

So as the year draws to a close, here are my reflections from 2021...๐Ÿ’ญ

It's good to reflect and see what you have achieved and to consider what has worked and maybe what hasn't. 5 things I have learnt in 2021 (I'm sure there are more) are:

1. Recommendation is key - almost ALL of my work has come from recommendations this year, which is fantastic. Doing a good job for others will always get you a recommendation and don't be shy; keep sharing those testimonials wherever you can!

2. You don't have to do it all - I have seen A LOT of reels this year which can be overwhelming at times. Sometimes you feel the pressure to be on the bandwagon and yes whilst they provide a good reach, it's still important to be authentic to your business and brand. I will try and show a bit more of my face next year though!

3. Having said, it is always worth 'trying' new things and ways of getting your message across, using new tools and methods, but sometimes even the traditional ways of branding, networking and marketing can work for you. You never know where or when your business will be seen!

4. Connecting with like-minded folk has been a game changer for me this year. I have met some really lovely people online, and in person, who have helped me feel I'm not alone in this area of work. There have been some great posts and podcasts in 2021 which have resonated with me and there is a great community to get involved in.

5. I do feel sometimes what I am doing now is simply a path to something else, even if I go down a different one and come back! I have experimented with Google Ads more this year than social media with great results for my customers.

So onwards and upwards in 2022 and lets see where this year takes me...
